Guest guest
I just wanted to mention that there is now a growing number of MD's who are practicing both pharmaceutically based medicine along with nutritional medicine, etc. I think this is the best of both worlds and medicine of the future. If you are interested in seeing if there are any such MDs in your area one resource you can check out the ACAM website for physician listings -- they are being referred to as integrative/funtional medicine physcians. A few well known MDs that have websites on-line are Dr Hyman, Dr Merola and Dr Buttar -- all good resources for natural medicine. I am very fortunate to have an integrative MD within driving distance from me. In Canada, our naturopath's have also recently gained the right to prescribe certain pharmaceutical medications which is a great step forward. http://www.acamnet.org/site/c.ltJWJ4MPIwE/b.2071557/k.7C1E/ACAM_Homepage.htm (click on public information and Physician link). I like the idea, except my son doesn't cath yet, so don't think we'd want to go that route since we're not already in there at this point. But it's a good suggestion! Thanks! ________________________________ To: tetheredspinalcord Sent: Tue, March 15, 2011 1:54:09 AM Subject: Re: naturopathy My 17 month old son has to take ditropan and although I know he needs it, I dislike the side effects! I'm looking into the possibility of administering the medication directly into the bladder after we cath him. This is supposed to take away almost all of the side effects, but still have the positive impact on the bladder. Just thought I'd toss this out there as an option. We're talking to our uro about it this Friday -- not sure if he'll want us to do it this way or not. But, if you do google searches for it, you can find out more info. :-) Allie >> >> >>> said the following on 3/11/2011 11:44 AM: >>> >>>> Before spending any cash on a 'naturopath' you might want to check out >>>> >>> this >>> >>>> evidence-based website: http://www.naturowatch.org/ >>>> You can then decide whether it has an evidence base that justifies basing >>>> decisions about your health on. >>>> >>>> >>> Thats kinda like comparing your political views of liberal vs >>> conservative.
