hi helena

thanks for ur email and the kind words...

my name is ...i apologize for the confusion...wasalaam is actually arabic

for " bye " ...Language is not one of my strong points, and when/ if u c more posts

by me, u will c a few things, a lotta spelling errors and perhaps words here and

there that r not english (they r arabic words for e.g. for HI, bye, thank you)

....I just type fast hence often type excatly the way i speak, which is english

with a lotta arabic words in it...

I am actually quite new to ACT Therapy....total of 7 weeeks to be exact in the

past 1 year (in an outpatient intensive anxiety program in chicago). ..hence

don't have 1/8 of the knowledge and expertise as most of u in this group.

BUT having had anxiety for 9 years and gone throught diff. ways of coping with

it, when i was in the program where they used ACT, instantly things started to

make sense to me. hence i have been able to get my life back without needing to

" fix " it first to get it back.. and have been trying to live my life to the

fullest by opening up to experiencing whatever life hasta offer; happiness,

pain, sorrow, joy, grief, anxiety, success, loss. coz afterall that is what

having a full, rich, complete life truly means:-)

when i get a chance i will write some more about my journey and my struggles,

they might be a bit diff. from others..but we can always learn from each others

expereinces and struggles:-)

your comments show that you have an excellent grasp of some key concepts, like

defusion. It took me a lot longer to understand these concepts. So you are off

to a great start.

Hi ,

So, I actually said "Hi & goodbye" in my greeting - how funny !!! Thanks for letting me know. I've never know anyone who speaks Arabic. That's very interesting! I look forward to hearing more about your journey. As for me, my struggle has been with life-long depression, and I've been studying and practicing ACT for a couple of years. It has been very helpful, and is actually the only thing that has ever helped my depression over the long term. I don't struggle with it much anymore; it's amazing.

I still have much to learn, and this group is vital to that. Life is my classroom, and the people here are my classmates in this course of study. It is also great that some of the authors of ACT books and other professionals in ACT also pop in now and then to offer their wisdom.
