Guest guest
A low fee research study is being conducted at a well known university in my city. There 2 behavioral therapies being compared on clients. I have a couple freinds who have gone through CBT, but r enrolling in this and emailed this to me. Could u tell me if any of these 2 r infact ACT therapy. To me the former (IST) seems like CBT with focus on ERP . the latter (2ND) seems like ACT. However where i am confused is the word " to replace " , hence doubting if it is ACT or not. I have a family member, who has had a year of CBT, with not much success, whom i can recommend going here, only if infact one of these therapies r ACT. thank you IST " The first version involves teaching methods for slowing physiological responding, changing erroneous thoughts about anxiety inducing situations, and modifying behaviors in order to learn to overcome fears of specific experiences, through exposure therapy. " 2ND " The second treatment version involves strategies designed to replace anxious physical responding and negative thinking with mindful observation, and shift behavior towards achieving life goals, again through exposure therapy "
