Guest guest
hi lisa ir is amazing that u were able to educate your group about ACT. i am having some difficulty with this as in my group, some r stuck when it comes to values vs goals. they have the most trouble identifying and defininy their values. Mine is a CBT/ERP group. So ACT would be a sorta new thing. Soon i havta talk about ACT in my speeches at a public speaking class amongst people who r not even anxiety suffereres, au contraire great public speakers, plus i have to introduce it to my community, which is completely unfamiliar with ACT or any form of therapy for that matter. and having any psychological/mental health sufferings is a huge stigma , so is never shared. So i am somewhat lost as to how i should go about doing it. I thought i would start with the Happiness Trap very first chapter, about myths, control stratergies. i have to keeep my speech between 5-7 minute max so not to be disqualified. I have the get out of ur mind book too, but i believe that is better to talk about amongst people who have some prior knowledge of act or atlest some form of psychotherapy like cbt. so basically there;s 3 places i havta introduce act where i am struggling sorta cbt/erp group: they r stuck on identifying values, and also " acceptance " of pain is a bit tricky concept for them to grasp public speaking group: members comprise of great public speakers, so excatly anxiety or social anxiety suferers my own community: a lotta anxiety sufferers but clueless about any form of therapy and stigma. if u/u'll have any suggestions, advice, that would be great. thanks wasalaam
