Guest guest
For the surgery prep. I gave extra Zinc - and the usual Vitamins and Minerals, Methy B-12 shots. Homeopathic Remedy the week before 3 X's a day, Arnica ( for inflammation, swelling, bruising). And Zithromax once a day. I stopped all supplements the day of surgery, except for homeopathic rememdies. Post surgery Continued Arnica, but every hour, for 3 days while awake And Also used Traumeel for Pain. Essential oils applied to the neck area for Pain, by Young living, Peppermint, and Panaway. Also used some other homeopathic remedies to clear the med's used in surgery ( I forgot what they were, I threw away my notes, but you can look it up online for homeopathic rememdies post surgery). The DR's were really good, no gas was used for surgery. My son came home after surgery eating, drinking, laughing and playing. I freaked because I thought it was so unusual. Day 3-7 post surg are the hardest, the main thing is to get them to drink! But my son did not have too much trouble, once he started drinking each day, but it was a struggle in the morning starting all over each day from day 3-7, post surgery. You could get a precription for Lidocaine throat spray, they can make it a flavor your child likes. Also you may want to get a topical precription for nausea, just for those first few days ( I got it filled and never needed to use it for my son ~ that stuff is not cheap!). My son did not require any post surgery meds. But I did get every thing filled, because I did not know if he would need them, and I wanted to have them on hand just in case. I gave him Motrin 3 days just before bedtime after he ate a meal, just to insure he had a restful sleep. My only concern now is if his system is still hanging on to toxins/ strep. Post surgery and if he needs to stay on antibiotcs. I guess I will be calling our LLMD. Hope all goes well for your son. Just prepare and that helps getting your mind wrapped around a long week at home. It will all workout well. Guest guest
Hi Allie,My son ,11yrs. old had his about 3 weeks ago.He was a slow healer and we had to bring him in for intravenous fluids twice. Now he doesn't feel much pain at all. It has been disappointing so far ,because we don't see any difference in him yet. Good luck with your sons progress. Tammy F. Our LLMD insisted my son needed his tonsils out. So he had his tonsils out 10 days ago, so far so good. Just wondered if anyone has needed to use more antibiotics to clear up more strep, if so what did you use? Or anything else was needed ? Has your child improved? Thanks Allie
Guest guest
Tammy, We haven't been through the tonsillectomy yet but just wanted to tell you that our doctor said that sometimes the positives from the tonsillectomy may come between 3-9 months after the surgery, so 3 weeks is very soon. Keep up the positive thoughts and hope to hear soon some amazing gains!
