Guest guest
Hiya, I've had chronic problems for years with candida, since getting Lyme. (I passed Lyme onto my little boy while pregnant but luckily he seems to be yest free). I've tried just about everything over the years and most of the alternative treatments gave me atrocious side effects - they give you headaches and basically make you feel like you have been poisoned. The only thing that quietly gets rid of yeast effectively for me is nystatin. I think maybe that is because it is the only one (including the herbal remedies) that cannot reach the liver, it just works in the intestine without being absorbed. Also, please be very wary of using any chelating agents like DMPS on kids, especially if they are not good at communicating clearly what they feel/are suffering. That stuff (and various herbal alternatives like chlorella which are supposed to be " gentle " ) made me feel so ill I just wanted to die. I have tested many therapies over the 27 years I have had Lyme and I try everything on myself before giving it to my son. I would absolutely NEVER consider giving him any kind of chelation therapy. > > I am doing SCD diet for my 14 year old severely effected son. He has a severe yeast problem. After the into-diet, he was seizure free for 7 days! (I cannot recall the last time he was seizure free for that long!) Now they are back with a vengeance. > I am looking for ideas to treat and mop up yeast. > Dr. TW recommends pau d' arco tea, which is not scd legal, but the " explanation " for not legal does not out weigh the possible benefit, so we are going to give this a try. > > What about enzymes to give for yeast (NOT during meals, but away from food to attack yeast.) > > And then, what about mopping up the " die-off " that I get from yeast? > > I am eliminating the honey from the diet now, but don't want to completely eliminate the cooked fruits and veggies, as I NEED to put weight on this very malnutrishioned boy! > > Thanks for ANY ideas! > Kathy >
Guest guest
I don’t think of SCD as a yeast diet, but I think it’s a great start and that parts of it can be really helpful. Have you considered the Body Ecology Diet? We did this strictly for 4 years, now we are on a less strict version. This diet really takes the food down to primitive foods and no sugar, not even from fruit. It’s challenging compared to SCD, but it’s getting to the foods that feed infections, so it’s tough on the kids initially. I find SCD to still have fruits, honey, high amts of meat and nuts. Some will do well on SCD, but for an even deeper cleansing diet, look at Body Ecology. All the best!
