Ultram made me feel funny too. No nausea, but otherwise as

described.

Yes , it made me nauseated with or without food. Shaky and " hyped up "

like withdrawal started about an hour before the next dose was due.

I'm now on my 6th pain med trial. 50mg Tramadol and 500mg Tylenol 4x a day.

I've

only been on it for 1 1/2 days so we'll see. At least my pain hasn't gone UP

like it did on the Nortriptyline. It felt like my nerves were being

electrocuted! I called the Dr. after 2 days and he said to give it a week. I

stopped on day 4 because the pain was so bad. My pain also skyrocketed on

Gabapentin. The Dr. theorizes that I'm allergic to those branches of pain

meds.

Has anyone else taken Tramadol and Tylenol together for pain management? If

so,

how did it go?

No one should take 500mg Tylenol 4x day everyday. Not good for ur liver.

That's y when someone needs chronic pain control a doc should change the

patient over to the meds that don't contain Tylenol.

Good point! I had a patient with end stage renal disease on dialysis because of

taking too much tylenol, it affects the kidneys too!

Hi Jodi,

I did take Tramadol and Tylenol together AND Neurontin at the same time. The

Tramadol is supposed to be the big brother of Ultram. Ultram did nothing for me,

Tramadol worked for the 1st 3 days and then it was all over :(

I hope you continue to do well on it. If you research Tramadol you will find

(unfortunately) that it is a VERY expensive drug and for most people other

protocols worked better. Actually this should not even be classified as a Class

II, according to most.

What protocols have you tried? I have been on a lot of meds. What works for me

is 45mg of Extended release morphine x 3 a day, 15mg immediate release Morphine

x 1-3 a day, Neurontin 1200MG x 3, Baclofen 20mg (at night).

Take care and stay pain free :)

I ditto & on Tylenol.  Even recommended amounts can affect

the liver enyzmes.   I also, don't even think our Children should take it at

all.  carol

Were you able to decrease your pain meds after surgery or get any pain relief

from the surgery?

Nope, same pain. The dosage has gone up since I have been on morphine since

September.

Only improvement was bladder function restored (which I was petrified about)

Tramadol & Ultram are the same thing. Normally 50 mg tablets. Ultraset

is the same as 12.5 mg Ultram + 375 mg tylenol in same tab. I took

Ultracet for about 5 years + 2 tylenol PM at night. Then the 'new

tylenol rules' came out (no more than 4---500 mg tabs day ???) so my doc

changed me to tramadol 50 mg prn no more than 2 x day. I exercise every

day and work out 3 x week, so it is for minor muscle aches and joint

pains when barometric pressure is <30 mb.

WOW, 1200 mg baclofen would knock me on my butt! I am 6-1 220#, my doc

says 80 mg (8 - 10 mg tabs) is the max I should take in any 24 hr

period. I was going to school at the time and baclofen + school did not

work - in a daze, could not think. So thats when I had a baclofen pump

put in, see archives in year 2000. In 2007 I no longer need the pump,

the battery alarm was going off so it was removed. Thats in the archives

too, I have been on here since 1998 - before it was a yahoo group.

For those that know me, I am fine, a bit better each year, married now

(2007), keep as busy as possible, graduated college, still live in

Colorado, still unemployed, pt 3 x week, getting stronger, still use

walker and wheelchair as appropriate.

Thanks to Kathy M for the suggestion, still take 20 mg clonazepam

(klonopin) at night to prevent those occasional muscle spasms.

They r the same. Ultram is the brand & Tramadol the generic.

That is a LOT of Baclofen. I've never heard of anyone taking more than about

120 mg. I take 20 mg up to 4 x day, but usually just twice.

I know a lot of people that use Tylenol PM to put them to sleep. But if u

just want it to put u to sleep, u r better off taking a benadryl. That is

the PM component of Tylenol PM.

It was me, but I had it under a different name... did not want me to take the

generic.

Great that it's working for you

Thanks everyone for your replies! I'm now taking 325 mg Tylenol with the

50 mg

Tramadol 4x daily.

I didn't think it was helping all that much til I missed a dose last night. Holy

cow, it hurt! And I got lightheaded/headachy, as if I was going through

withdrawal. Apparently it's helping to a certain degree but it's not great. I do

take 1/2 a Tylenol PM (a whole pill knocks me OUT) so that helped. I'm going to

stay on the meds til I see the Dr at the end of the month.

Someone mentioned getting nauseous. I started out taking it with food but I can

take it without and it has no effect on me, luckily. Someone also mentioned the

high cost of Tramadol. With my medical plan, generics only cost $5 a

prescription so it would be awesome if I could find a dosage that works. Has

anyone taken more than 50 mg Tramadol? Would Ultram work better?

Thanks again!

Jodi
