Guest guest
Hi Rajesh, I'll take a stab at answering question #1. Values, in the way ACT uses the term, are not universal; they are quite personal and are about the direction you want to take in life. For example, I value connection with others, living healthy, being truthful, etc. I do not see wanting to live an alcohol free life as a value, in and of itself. Why do you want to avoid alcohol? The answer to that might be the value. If you say its because you were taught that way, dig a little deeper because that sounds like a self-imposed rule that you learned and not a value. If you say it's because you value healthy living or being mentally alert, that might be it. What is not drinking alcohol in service of in your life? As to #4, "why are we in life?" We are here because we're here. I've spent hours pondering that question, as many people have, and that's the only answer I can come up with. If you are asking what is the meaning of life, I would say that how we live our lives is the only thing that can give it meaning - living according to your values, for example. ARE VALUES UNIVERSAL?the ACT places more weightage towards value guided life but i wanna know, are values truly universal? for example my value is to live a alcohol free life.but for other it is not a even a value to be considered. should not the VALUES be universal for all.which gets me to the main question, if others are not taking this value then why should i ?simply put i had grown up in an environment were they said drinking is bad. so i grew up with this idea and i did not drank, but when i see other people drinking and in fact more happier, sucessful than me then i get stuck. should i follow my value or leave it b'cos other are not following2.when ur in a blue mood, thoughts do not come serial one by one but they come simulteansouly.so how does you unhook your with 5 thought at a time.3.in my experince, when we read the book for improvement we can really feel like the author had written about our thoughts and feeling b'cos they match with most of our thoughts say this to be view1. then they clarify our view of things to see the world in the different way and ask to practice excercise to see the new view say as view 2 i wanna know whether the sucessful people reaaly see the world in view2 ?4.why are we in life ?
