Guest guest
I regularly receive this result. I have been diagnosed with Lyme and other infections, but nobody had directly connected the ANA results to Lyme disease. My rheumatologist says it is caused by an intracellular infection, possibly Lyme and probably mycoplasma. Mycoplasma is an obligate intracellular infection, meaning that it can only thrive inside the cells, and it does not do well when outside of the cells. Lyme can exist in or out side of the cells, and could possibly cause an elevated ANA. Anne M., BSN, MSN/IH, RNmcfighter@... They came back a High with a screen of " 8 " and titer of 1:40. I guess this is on the low side but we have never had a positive result before. I know this can be the lyme. The LLMD hasnt called me back to discuss these yet. Also-the Pattern is listed as " Atypical Speckled " Has anyone else rec'd this result and had their doctor give them any info on it relating to lyme possibly? I read the following info during a google search: Atypical Speckled Pattern Atypical speckled pattern includes a number of ANA patterns that are distinct from a true speckled reaction pattern and which as yet have no known clinical significance. The antigens involved in these patterns have not been identified. Anti-Nucleolar Pattern Anti-Nucleolar antibodies are found in 60-70% of scleroderma-systemic sclerosis patients, 26% SLE (Lupus) patients and 9% rheumatoid arthritis patients and rarely seen in conjunction with other connective tissue diseases. __________ Information from ESET NOD32 Antivirus, version of virus signature database 6563 (20111021) __________The message was checked by ESET NOD32 Antivirus.http://www.eset.com __________ Information from ESET NOD32 Antivirus, version of virus signature database 6563 (20111021) __________ The message was checked by ESET NOD32 Antivirus. http://www.eset.com __________ Information from ESET NOD32 Antivirus, version of virus signature database 6563 (20111021) __________The message was checked by ESET NOD32 Antivirus.http://www.eset.com

Guest guest
Hi, I have had ANA titers about 140 to 160 for quite a long time. I have both Lyme and mycoplasma and it is almost certainly caused by one of those, probably both. It is a sign the immune system is trying to attack the bacteria that are inside your own body cells. One of the things that for me helps the titers go down is to religiously avoid anything I am allergic to, and also to take artemisia, (herb that gets the cystic form borrelia out of the body cells in to general circulation). I did have a lot of screening tests to check for autoimmune diseases, and if you'd like a list of those, drop me an email. However, the doctor did tell me that people with Lupus or other autoimmune diseases usually have levels about 2000, so he said 140 is probably not a level to worry about. I hope that's reassuring. > > I have been diagnosed with an unspecified autoimmune disease. They haven’t been able to figure out which one my symptoms most closely match. Guest guest
Thanks ! Its interesting though- there is a sim thread I noticed on Cal Lyme right now and there was someone saying she had been diagnosed w several AI diseases in addition to Lyme.. I guess AI can happen in addition to lyme- must depend on symptoms, or a lack thereof, in addition to the specific info that the lab give.
