Guest guest
We spent a full day in the ER/ICU with my son, having HYPER thyroid - they first thought he was in thyroid storm, which is SUPER serious, and life threatening, most people do not survive. The DR said my son had the highest level, they have seen all year in anyone and were surprised he had not had a heart attack or stroke. And this is related to the lyme of course! I would watch about using Iodine supplementation, not to say you should not use it but you need to know the warning signs, if your child should slip into hyper thyroid. Many of our kids have speech issues, so you have to watch more how they are acting and are behaving. Here are a few warning tips: increased respirations, racing heart, fatigue, moody, waking up during the night, fever, lack of enjoyment from anything they love to do, a stark look in their eyes like they just don't feel well, anxiety, tremors in hands, etc... * Also be prepared to answer about vaccines, if your child had a flu shot, or tenaus, and anything else they can shoot in them. I was shocked how soon in the information they were requesting, if he had any of these vaccines recently, as they were ready to bring him one in right away! We had nice nurses and DR's, but they had paper work messed up and gave us wrong prescriptions to some other patient on discharge. And it was not a busy time at the hospital, I just think they are being pushed to do so many other things, too much paper work, or working too many shifts. I even questioned every medication they brought in to give my son. Allie
