Guest guest
Are you doing other things as well? For us, turmeric worked slowly over time, but I had to help it out with digestive aids and such. Love and prayers, Heidi N > > My son is currently taking 2400mg of Enhansa a day. 600mg in the a.m. and p.m. and 1200mg at lunch. Honestly, have not seen any reaction at all. Maybe if we were doing blood tests we would, but behaviorally, nothing. Is anyone else doing high dose Enhansa? What is the most you should give a kid who is about 45 pounds and for how long do you give this at such a high dose before calling it quits without seeing anything from it? I love the idea of Enhansa so am willing to try it for as long as it takes, or as long it has the potential to help! >
Guest guest
Heidi,I had my kid on enhansa for several weeks, he developed a dry, bumpy rash ALL over.... It was so bad, I had ti give him corticosteroids via I'm to undo the rash and its accompanying itching. Do you think it was viral or an allergic rash? He had been on a diet for 2 years when that happened. He really looked bad. Did I do right to remove him from it? This is a question floating on my mind still...HugsIsaEnviado desde mi oficina móvil BlackBerry® de TelcelSender: BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism Date: Thu, 03 Nov 2011 00:45:07 -0000To: <BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism >ReplyTo: BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism Subject: Re: Enhansa Question Are you doing other things as well? Guest guest
Rashes are from allergy, die-off, viral, bacterial, etc. I do see that typically on the autism forums rashes appear when they take something new that triggers the immune system to kill things. But, you will always have variances. What I did, was watch the rash and see if it worsened or got better and how it reacted to different things. I have small tiny here and there bumps on me, my nephew does, my kids have and do from time to time, and this condition lasts years. Some docs say it's viral, some say it's allergy. I don't even care since we will never know. When we react badly to something, I either take a break and start on a lower dose or just lower the dose or stay at the same dose and watch the reaction to see if it continues to worsen or gets better. Sometimes I stop the product all together, but mostly it's from die-off, and eventually the reaction leaves and good things happen afterwards. As much as turmeric/curcumin/Enhansa is very widely used in the autism arena, occasionally you see a posting where its mentioned that the child is allergic. I usually see people say that they got strong reactions to the Enhansa initially. When I started Turmeric, I had to take one capsule a day because it was strong for me. I worked up to 4 capsules twice a day. It is one of the more gentler things I have taken, yet it still can cause strong die-off reactions for some. Out of all the supplements we have taken, it's my favorite because of it's anti-inflammatory effects. I have not found anything that works as well. Plus, it keeps me from getting low blood sugar. I love it to pieces. Love and prayers, Heidi N Heidi, I had my kid on enhansa for several weeks, he developed a dry, bumpy rash ALL over.... Guest guest
Thanks for the replies. Yes, we are using many other supplements too as well as enzymes and Biopterin. I am really triing to cut back on all the capsules I give him so have stopped the CoQ10 and Resveratrol while giving the Enhansa. Heidi--what is the highest dose you gave your children? Do you think I coud safely go higher than 2400mg a day if I am not seeing a thing? My son felt and did great on a trial of steroids, which I know was probably a mistake, so I am trying to replicate that anti-inflammatory effect with Enhansa so I might have to take the dose even higher to get there--plus it has the nice anti-viral/anti-fungal thing going for it too although have seen no die off or rashes so not confident it's doing anything in that area for my son either yet. You said it takes a while for effectiveness. How long before it kicks in? > > > > My son is currently taking 2400mg of Enhansa a day. 600mg in the a.m. and p.m. and 1200mg at lunch. Guest guest
I don't know how much Enhansa equates to in relation to turmeric. I think my older kids got around the dose you speak of in turmeric. We did Resveratrol with turmeric and got good results. Resveratrol caused really bad die-off when we started it. Now I can take some after not having any for months and barely get any die-off. I can't believe how sick we used to get from even a half a capsule of something like Resveratrol. Turmeric works for us daily, but the improvements they got in loss of symptoms took time. So, it was like a slight improvement in speech at first, and then gradually over time, the speech and other things kept improving. I guess that is typical with a lot of treatments.
