Guest guest
This is crazy! Pills that don't dissolve? Why am I spending my $ to send something thru my GI tract? Who would've thunk it? At least my Dittopan now gets rubbed on my skin. I knew the generic Ditropan XL was a POS (pill of $#!t -LOL), but that is ridiculous. Oh well. Jenn Sent from my iPhone Rick, doesnt surprise me at all. When I was able to work (RN) one of my positions was doing conscious sedation during colonoscopies. You would be AMAZED at how many pills we found totally undisolved in the bowel....everthing from BP pills to vitamins. Subject: Ditropan To: tetheredspinalcord Date: Wednesday, March 23, 2011, 2:17 AM .. The reason is that it does not digest or break down properly. I found some undigested tablets in my stool. At first my doc said they were just 'shit stones' but they tested to be the oxybutynin. Rick .
Guest guest
There's been a lot of talk of this across the boards, specifically relating to Ditropan ER. When Sofia got a temp. ileostomy at her last surgery in Nov. she had a bag blowout during the first week or so and I found an ER pill. They told me what I had found was probably the undigested shell. Lucky for me I had opened the nasty little sucker and it was filled with the white powder! (It only took a minute of internet research to inform me that ileo patients shouldn't take extended release tabs.) But we've been hearing of IA kids who's tabs have been hanging out in their colons, one had nine days worth. Anyway, we put Sofia back on the liquid form, and good thing we did...before the ditropan she was headed for a bladder augment. The ditropan worked so well for her, the augment is off the table! : ) But I shudder to think what might have been had I not found the tablet and she had continued on it for these past four months! I also found out that there is a regular ditropan pill on the market that is not coated, so we may try that after her surgery next month. Right now, I'm not willing to take any chances. AND the pedi uros at Boston are researching how to improve delivery and absorption of ditropan infused directly into the bladder. Apparently it works well now for some but not all patients. Their goal is to eliminate the need for oral ditropan altogether. Yay! Guest guest
Oh my goodness! I am SO glad you found that pill and checked it out for yourself! You saved Sophia a major surgery! Guest guest
Awww I bet she's so cute! LOL  That does seem odd if the " same " med looks differently, I dont know it seems like no matter who sold it, it would look the same. I sure hope its working too and that her bladder looks AWESOME! Many Blessings, Subject: Re: undissolved pills To: tetheredspinalcord Date: Thursday, March 24, 2011, 1:32 PM  Hahaha! Thanks, , that does deserve a WOOOT!!! Or as Sofia likes to say, " Whew! That was close! " ; ) Now whenever I hear parents talk about their children not getting good results on the ditropan, I'm always skeptical of the med. It seems way too persnickity and not always reliable. I even get nervous about the liquid I give Sofia...Walmart's and the stuff we got in Cinci were kinda' bright blue. I had to switch to PathMark one day because WM was out and I needed it bad, but theirs is very light blue. In the back of my mind, I'm always wondering if the stuff is working. I guess we'll know for sure when they do her surgery next month. Hopefully her bladder will look great! Guest guest
The Pathmark paperwork said it should be 'light aqua' but I think I'm going to look into it a little more, just for peace of mind! I'll post a pic of my princess for you all. : ) Stacey mom to Sofia age 5, VACTERL > > > > > > From: Rick <rick_lists@> > > > Subject: Ditropan > > > To: tetheredspinalcord > > > Date: Wednesday, March 23, 2011, 2:17 AM > > > > > > . > > > The reason is that it does not digest or break down properly.
