Tears. The happy kind. Thanks. Bill Anxiety I've been going through a bit of an anxiety funk over the last few days. Two nights ago I picked upThe Mindfulness & Acceptance Workbook for Anxiety by Forsyth and Eifert. It has been very helpful. I've been through it before so now I just pick it up and open to a random place. It seems that when I get into such a funk I seem to get lost in the ACTprocess and have a hard time figuring out where to start. I know the concepts but the anxiety is like a fog over my eyes. The fact that it is written with a strong focus on anxiety makes it an excellent navigation tool out of the funk.A side note - a Boulder psychiatrist is recommending this book for his patients with depression.Bill

Simone, that is really, really beautiful. I printed it out.

Thanks so much for sharing it.

Hi Bill, I came across this - thought you might like it, Merry Christmas! x

Letter to a Friend

I am your friendand my love for you goes deep. There is nothing I can give youwhich you have not have:but there is much, very muchthat while I cannot give it,you can take.No heaven can come to usunless our hearts find restin today. Take heaven! No peace lies in the futurewhich is not hiddenin this present little instant.Take peace! The gloom of the world is but a shadow.Behind it, yet within reach, is joy. There is radiance and gloryin the darkness, could we but see,and to see we have only to look.I beseech you to look!Life is so generous a giver, but we, judging its gifts bythe covering, cast them awayas ugly, or heavy or hard.Remove the covering andyou will find beneath ita living splendour, woven of love,by wisdom, with power.Welcome it, grasp it,touch the angel's handthat brings it to you.Everything we call a trial,a sorrow, or a duty, believe me,that angel's hand is there, the gift is there, and the wonderof an overshadowing presence. Our joys, too, be notcontent with them as joys. They, too, conceal diviner gifts.Life is so full of meaning and purpose,so full of beauty, beneath its covering—that you will find earthbut cloaks your heaven.Courage, then, to claim it, that is all.But courage you have, and the knowledge thatwe are all pilgrims together, wending through unknown country, home. And so, at this time, I greet you,not quite as the world sends greetings, but with profound esteemand with the prayer that for younow and forever, the day breaks, and the shadows flee away.Letter written by Fra Giovanni (1513)
