Guest guest
Wilkie's book on Stress Breakdown had loads of interestinfg informantion in it. I liked this one: During the 2nd World War the RAF recruited the best Pilots. They wanted tough men who would never crack up under stress so they put canditates through tests to be able to select the most stress resistant men. They then sent these Supermen up into battle in these expensives warplanes. Everything was fine but eventually, after a while of neavy fighting, the RAF would see their pilots just fly their planes into the sea, or the land, or into a side of a cliff, and the RAF were losing too many planes. With research they realised that when these really tough guys finally cracked they completely lose it and and destroy themselves. So the RAF started to use pilots who broke down with medium levels of stress instead. When things got bad these pilots would land their planes safely and come out broken, shaking with fear, and often sobbing. Then replacement pilots would take the planes up into batlle again . The next day these shattered pilots would say to their captains, I'm ready to go up again, Sir, let me have another go. We can win this war. Wilkies' book was a very interesting in this way. Guest guest
Wlkie's Understanding Stress Breakdown: Out of print but is still available below. There is also an up to date eBook version which looks a little hard sell, even though it is still a good book. http://www.amazon.com/Understanding-Stress-Breakdown--Wilkie/dp/1864290277/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8 & qid=1320646337 & sr=8-2 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Understanding-Stress-Breakdown--Wilkie/dp/0717129195/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8 & qid=1320646390 & sr=8-1 http://www.stressbreakdown.com/index-relationship.asp Kv > > > **> >> >> >> > Wilkie's book on Stress Breakdown had loads of interestinfg> > informantion in it.
