Guest guest
I called the Dr and they felt that since I had ate a ton ( well not a TON, but alot) of crushed tomatoes the day before that it probably cause the huge amount of gas. They told me to try gas x and also moist heat on my shoulder. In a message dated 4/16/02 8:21:51 AM Eastern Daylight Time, hensleyct@... writes: > call your dr. Better safe than sorry. Guest guest
- Why would you feel gas pain in your neck and shoulder? It just doesn't sound right to me. It really does feel like a pocket of air though and the pain sorta radiates up my nack from the bubble in my shoulder.
Guest guest
This was explained at my last support group as happening after surgery due to the muscles being stretched ( they are not cut ) down the center and pulled aside to reach the stomach etc. : ) The doctor said some patients never experience pain others get bothered in their shoulder, collar bone area. I had 2 surgeries because I had a leak the day after surgery..I don;t think I could go thru this again.
Guest guest
I had this back a million years ago. Simulated a minor heart attack. Pain in shoulder, shooting down arm, some numbness, pain in chest, shortness of breath (from the pain). They told me to take Tums. HAHA! Yeah, right. I was 30 or so and pushing 200#. Well, I took Tums and it went away. So, now we know that gas can be trapped somehow above/below/near the diaghram and it presses all the pain buttons on the left side. So, it's not as crazy as it sounds. Guest guest
It can also mean an air pocket that could be caused by leakage from the stomach or intestine, which is why they check you out and make sure that it isn't that. Also, my doctor was telling his patients that a lot of them were complaining about neck, shoulder and back pain after the surgeries. He has added pads to the operating table so that it won't be as tender, but the consensus around here is that they must really toss you around a lot while they have you out and bend muscles that haven't been bent in a while, so you are sore. I had a gas attack after my open gallbladder surgery and it was really hurting me a LOT. They gave me some concoction in the hospital (this WAS 30 years ago) and then told me to walk as much as I could, and when I did sit or lie down to try not to keep my upper body at an angle, but to lie perfectly flat or with my feet elevated instead of my upper torso so the gas would dissapate back down where it belonged. Hope you feel better soon! Micki (12 days from Open RNY) --- " michelle@... " wrote: > I had this back a million years ago. Simulated a > minor heart attack.
