make sure you have some detox support around to help with the die off.T Okay, I really did not want to share this but I am having panic attacks and could use some input. Apparently, I could be in heart failure. Possibly from Lyme because I can't figure out what else could have caused this and I've had Lyme etc lingering in me for 20+ years. Went to the LLMD and he wanted me to go by ambulance to the ER which I couldn't (no insurance for that) but did go to the ER and it does seem that there could be a mysterious tare or something in my heart making it not beat right. Had an EKG years ago (before Lyme) and my heart was fine and normal then. Have to go to a specialist in a couple of weeks but I am sure he won't be looking for Lyme as the whole ER staff acted like I was crazy when I asked if there could be a lyme connection. Has anyone else dealt with something like this? Could it be spirochetes in my heart or am I being paranoid and does this mess have nothing to even do with Lyme? The LLMD would not give me abx until I get my heart fixed because he said the meds would be too hard on me at this point, but if this is Lyme related this doesn't make sense to me not to treat them with strong abx. Any input would be really appreciated. P.S. Other than the panic attacks from this incident last week I feel totally fine and actually very healthy. I feel no Lyme or heart issues. P.P.S. Told the LLMD I was taking 30 drops of Samento 3 times daily with no reaction at all and he said I needed to add in Banderol to get die off which I will try.

Lyme is known to cause heart block, so the ER doc is uneducated in this area. I have at least one article connecting Lyme to heart block. Email me privately if you are interested. I can search my extensive collection of medical articles that I have collected over the years to see if I have more articles that you can take to the cardiologist. I had a panic attack once. Was really awful. For me I think it was related to mycoplasma pneumonia. RuthSent from my iPhone

Heart issues are an issue with lyme pts, especially chronic lyme.

I do feel it causes many symptoms, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, and

more.

Just wondered if you can take some supp's that would help calm, even the

homeopathic

Calms Forte - since it will not effect any heart issues, only give you some calm

if its

anxiety only, but maybe give you a chance to tell if you do have a heart issue

that needs

to be addressed.

Most LLMD's want you to follow up with a Cardio DR to rule out any issues going

on, before they procede with Lyme treatment.

Lyme disease causes heart problems in 7 percent of patients, according to my

Lyme doc. We talked about this a lot because I have had severe heart damage from

Lyme.

First thing that happened to me was acute myocarditis and endocarditis

(inflammation of heart muscle and interior of heart).

I had tachycardia of 350 bpm for about 3 months.

After this I had ventricular tachycardia and ventricular extrasystoles. These

are life threatening heart arrhythmias. Lyme can cause many types of arrhythmia,

not necessarily these ones. It can also cause sinus tachycardia which is not

dangerous.

I do have chlamydia pneumonia and mycoplasma pneumonia as well as Lyme and these

have both been implicated in heart disease of various types, so it may be that

they played more of a role than lyme disease in this level of heart damage.

There hasn't been enough research yet to answer this.

Lots of people feel tachycardia as a panic attack, I think cardiologists

sometimes use that term as they think patients will find it less alarming. When

you have your ECG you need to find out if it is sinus tachycardia, which can be

caused by any infection (even just a cold) and is not dangerous, or an

arrhythmia, which can be dangerous.

I had a catheter ablation to resolve my heart arrhythmia and the operation

worked perfectly, it was miraculous and I feel fine in my heart now, I don't get

blackouts at all and never feel flutters or tachycardia.

The other damage Lyme does, and this is definitely lyme not other infections, is

damage heart valves. It loves tissue containing collagen and heart valves are

made of this. If lyme takes up residence in your heart it makes them floppy,

they leak and eventually prolapse. An ultrasound with eco-doppler will detect

this.

My valves are quite leaky but still working acceptably.

The other thing is that it causes an enlargement of the chambers of the heart,

especially the left ventricle. Imagine the heart like a saggy pregnant tummy

full of stretch marks, that is the damage you end up with.

My mother's heart has reached this stage (she has had lyme as long as I have)

and is now into the heart failure phase, where the heart muscle very slowly

starts to die. In this case you can have certain drugs to slow the process down

very considerably.

All of these conditions can occur without Lyme disease.

If they ARE caused by Lyme, then they will all stop progressing if you take

antibiotics. You do need intravenous ones in most heart problems, to get the

adequate saturation in the relevant tissues. This is in the Burrascano

guidelines on ILADS website, which you may want to take to your cardiologist??

I have seen many cardiologists over the years, some very poor and some

outstandingly good. Not one of them knew a thing about Lyme disease!!! It's not

their speciality, not their field, you will have to educate them.

I hope and think most probably that most if this is irrelevant to you and that

it is no big deal. As I said, 7 percent of Lymies get real problems but the

majority of the time it is not a grave problem.

Good luck.

Thank you for all of your help. I do not know how to interpret my ECG, but the

LLMD says it looks like I am constantly having a heart attack. Would I need to

get a pediatric cardiologist to get an ECG on my son? Does anyone know if Dr.J

runs ECGs on his pediatric patients? Do children with suspected Lyme routinely

have ECGs run? Seems like a prudent idea and I've never heard of it being done

on kids before.

I know 2 related infections are associated with heart issues: Bartonella and

strep. My husband had terrible heart symptoms treating Lyme early on.

Augmentin helped calm his heart symptoms. It seems that he could not handle

Bartonella treatments until reducing strep load. Seriously consider strep as a

causative and treat that for several months before going into other pieces of

Lyme. Augmentin did great things for me and eliminated all my anxiety.

Good point about strep, Caryn.

As far as interpreting the ECG goes, forget the lyme doctor and forget most

cardiologists too. You need to be referred to a type of cardiologist called an

electrophysiologist. If the ECG is abnormal you have gone way beyond the

knowledge of a Lyme doc and of a regular cardiologist.

The doc who said it " looks like you're having a heart attack all the time "

proved he doesn't know how to read an ECG. He may be referring to repeated

premature beats, runs of extrasystoles - who knows, all these arrhythmic

patterns have specific names and he evidently doesn't know the name of what he's

seeing!!!

There is usually one hospital per region with an electrophysiology department,

the hospital that did the ECG should refer you but if they faff, you can refer

yourself.

If you son is on antibiotics he should have a routine ECG to check they are not

causing heart arrhythmia as a side effect. (Usually cause long QT syndrome). My

son has these every 4 weeks.

He should definitely have had one when diagnosed with Lyme to make sure it had

not caused any damage. If he is not on antibiotics then that may be enough.

If he has never had one, I would definitely ask for one as a precaution. As I

said before, it's most unlikely there will be anything wrong, but you do need to

know.

ECGs for children interests me as I have never hear of them being routinely

done, especially for suspected LIA kids. My son has been on abx before and his

heart was never checked. Do you have to take your child to a specialist every

four weeks while on abx to make sure his heart is doing all right while being on

them?

The ER doctor told me to continue working out for an hour a day and going in the

FAR sauna every night since I did not and do not have heart pain (except for

anxiety induced ones now!). I feel better when working out and going in the

sauna but am now nervous. Do most people with an " off " ECG have to stay away

from strenuous activity?

Some people with a heart arrhythmia suffer attacks induced by exercise. In other

cases it makes no difference. If you feel fine exercising, then do it. My heart

problem sometimes got worse from NOT exercising and sitting still too long. You

can trust your instincts on this, if it feels OK then it is.

A lot of different heart conditions are worsened by saunas because the heat

expands your blood vessels and makes your heart work harder. Saunas used to set

my heart off. If you feel OK in it, again, that is fine.

My son gets his ECGs done at the regular pediatrician's consulting rooms, by a

cardiologist who brings a portable ECG machine. We're very lucky to have this

set up because my son is not at all scared this way, in fact he enjoys it

because the guy lets him play with all the buttons.

I wonder if the the ECG doesn't apply to all antibiotics? My son is on cefuroxim

and azithromycin.

I used to have panic attacks. Mine were from caffeine and sugar. I can not

drink even one sip of coffee, not even decaf. I can eat all the organic sugar I

want, but not the non-organic sugar. For me, eating healthy took them away, but

I noticed that I would get anxiety from my Bartonella, so it's probably a big

reason for mine.

Thank you so much for your help! The waiting to see a cardiologist to hopefully

get some answers is turning me into a wreck. I am going to print up all of this

information and bring it with me. On Wednesday I had three separate doctors

acting like I was about to die. Maybe I now have grounds to insist on IV abx

from the LLMD? Thanks for all the support.
