My daughter, with Lyme became much much much sicker after steroid injections into her lumbar area. This was, of course, before we knew she had Lyme but I would not allow any steroid injections.......things can get much much worse.

Just wanted to see if there were others out there that have the horrendous lower back pain...My pain management group docs have been harassing me to get steroid injections into my SI joint on my right hip for two years now and always felt a big " NO, DON'T " and this is before I knew I had Lyme. Anyone get clarification or understanding about this particular area?

Also, I get really scary weak arms usually at night time and they come on sometimes when I take too long between pain meds. The pain doc said its withdrawal symptoms and I sort of agree but the intensity of the weakness is growing stronger and the accompanying pain is so horrible. I can handle c-section recovery no problem, but this? This brings me to my knees whimpering and crying every time. I can't grasp objects, sit still, and I shake like I have Parkinson's. Ugh.

That's what I've been told about steroid use too. Unfortunately, I was taking a

steroid for my low adrenals off and on for over a year and the Lyme doc took me

off of them right away. Yikes! Was your daughter's back pain due to Lyme?

Yes it was severe lower back and hip pain which got much much worse after steroid injections.

I get some back and hip pain- but nothing major like you describe; however, Ive had muscle weakness (worst is in arms) for yrs and it seems to get worse instead of better even though I got back to lifting weights at the gym a few yrs ago (can only lift 5-10 lbs on most machines)- pathetic! Ive asked around and this doesnt seem to be too common for many w lyme for some reason. Maybe it is related to my inhaled steriod use. I have been trying to get off of my asthma inhaler for a few yrs but my adrenals are so weak they almost failed last time I tried.

I hope you can get some relief from your pain. Hopefully someone can shed light on the muscle weakness for us as well!

So hard to know with our bodies and so many symptoms of lyme/thyroid/ hormones.

Just wondered if you have been on any lyme treatments of any kind this year, or

just steriods? I know they make it worse, mainly in lowering your immune

system. So sorry your having issues, but the shakness either is the pain going

on, or low minerals. Just wondered if you take any magnesium or use the mag oil

topically, or Espon salt baths?

Yes, you can have pain too from severe hypo thyroidism or hashimoto disease.

Its a maze to figure it all out.

I have had lots of pain in my legs/ feet/ hips in the last few months, and it

migrates, different days, times, etc.. Makes you feel like a loonie if you

mention it to anyone, even sometimes to the regular Doc's. I know its the lyme,

and have not been able to do any treatments in a while.
