Guest guest
Welcome, Hester. You've come to the right website. Are you undergoing any treatment? What do your doctors advise? I'm on a 3-drug rotation for 10 days every month, and I spit stuff up all the time. But I hardly cough anymore. Please don't lose heart. Guest guest
Hi Jaqueline, yes I use an inhaler and Singulair tablets. I've been very sick last year before I was diagnozed. Been hospitalized for more than a week with a very very bad cough. Was given lots and lots of antibx. I had the hernia operation as soon as I got a bit better. I think I have a few causes for the disease, reflux bad, chronic sinus infection, my old, moist and mould breeding home. Do I need to use the vest to get rid of mucous? I do not feel as if I need it. Or do I just hope that mine isn't that bad?Thank youHester or SussieSent from my BlackBerry® wireless deviceSender: bronchiectasis Date: Thu, 17 Feb 2011 16:19:31 -0500To: bronchiectasis support group<bronchiectasis >ReplyTo: bronchiectasis Subject: RE: Re: welcome new member Welcome, Hester. Guest guest
Are any of you out there that sweat so much as me? Is it caused by infection? It is a cold sweat, not feverish at all.Hester-Sussie Sent from my BlackBerry® wireless deviceFrom: sussie@...Sender: bronchiectasis Date: Thu, 17 Feb 2011 21:39:59 +0000To: <bronchiectasis >ReplyTo: bronchiectasis Subject: Re: Re: welcome new member Hi Jaqueline, yes I use an inhaler and Singulair tablets. Guest guest
sweater profusely my whole life, in cold climates, in winter, or tropics - maybe a bit more... I think it's part of having constant " background " infection that is pretty much normal with bronch... Any others find same? joy (Aus)
Guest guest
Hi Joy, You mean sweating? Yes yes! I'm so glad there is someone else having it. I thought it was hormones! But I knew it is caused by some underlying infection. Trying to get some excersize, is this ok? I do gardening and play with my grandson till have to stop to take a breather. Suppose it can't do any harm? Happy breathing Sussie Sent from my BlackBerry® wireless device
Guest guest
Sussie, the more exercise you get the better your lungs will do. It will really help if you can gradually increase the amount of exercise you can tolerate. Glad to hear you're gardening and playing with the grandkids. Fun! Guest guest
hi Sussie (probably my last post for a wk or 2) Exercise is a MUST! yep do all the gardening you can - gives you sun, fresh air... just pace yourself, stop for a drink, keep going as long as is comfortable ... ha ha I always overdo it! Any activity is good - my joke is that I don't have to pay heaps to go to aerobic classes - just making the bed does it, a slow dog- paddle instead of a proper swim etc. If exercise means you sweat more, make sure you replace electrolytes as well as fluid. Living in the tropics sometimes water just isn't enough (esp this last year, has been so humid). A dash of cider vinegar in water seems to help. My carer makes a simple ginger drink from ground ginger, a touch of yeast & sugar, lets it sit a day or so till it JUST begins to ferment (not alcoholic). Soooo refreshing! To get rid of a dry mouth I rinse using a dash of vinegar and bicarb soda. I've did volunteer planting etc for several decades (involves mulching a lot), worked with kids in bush regeneration, and of course my own garden - BUT if mulching lawn clippings that've gone powdery it may be a good idea to wear a scarf or a paper mask - I discovered that aspergillus (a fungi that particularly likes grass mulch) can get into the lungs. Before you panic - yes, I had some in my lungs, but it didn't become a problem (it only every showed up once) & was a bit of a wee scare tho - and I still muck about in the garden! bye for now joy
Guest guest
Hmmm. I found Joy's answer interesting and I think I'll discuss w/lung doc. I know Joy is away but I felt a need to mention I have what I think are hot flashes several times a day. Joy mentioned background infections. Anybody else experiences summer breezes? Guest guest
Hi AnnOh yes, hot flashes like in sweat running down me. As soon as start doing something the sweating starts. Even get cramps because of this. Even after I took a bath. Have been for blood test but could not pick up any infection.
