Guest guest
JOY!! Don't worry! My son and I travel ALL the time w/ his vest/ nebulizer machines. They will make you take it out of it's bag carrying case, which btw is SO handy for travelling. Just tell them over and over: It's a medical device, I need it for breathing! I have NEVER had any issue. I am also btw a flight attendant for American Airlines and I have seen others bring plenty of med equipment onboard. The whole machine will fit into the Overhead Bin if you take it out of it's carrying case. The duffle bag (carrying case) will not fit into most airplanes' over head bins. I just place the white motor machine into the over head all on its own..CANNOT CHECK IT. The airlines, in the U.S anyway know this and the TSA BELIEVE it or not are quite good about it. Just gotta take it out a few different times when trying to get to the gate and then onto the plane. I have flown several times on other airlines other than my employer, American, and am relieved to say that they have never hasselled my son or my husband or me. It's all good, trust me...e.. Subject: airline travel and 'vest' etc - eeekkkk!!!!!To: bronchiectasis Date: Sunday, February 20, 2011, 8:00 AM hi Kay - is late, doing last minute posts... travelling with Virgin, whole day on phone with them (worst call centres ever encountered - btw I didn't do the booking...) Got the forms emailed to me, took them to dr to be signed, read the guidelines (all rushed) said NOTHING about equipment, the whole "travel clearance" thing is about me being well enough & I have my drs permission! However, a 4th call for the day, being left waiting interminably for the ??? time finally was assured this was the correct form, & all the requirements were logged on their computers. Except all their computers went down today - do they still have that info? All i can do is PRAY !!! Being like a virgin might be fine for Madonna - but several miles up in a metal tube, I'd rather NOT have a virgin airline in control - if you get my drift! here's to happy take-offs as well as happy landings!! joy

Guest guest
Dang it, Joy, this is pathetic the way they're treating you! Some companies or services fall apart when something out of the ordinary comes up: throw up their hands and can't think outside the box to figure out what to do! I feel for you. You're going to need the peacefulness of a retreat by the time you get to your destination!
