Sharyn, all,

just a tuppence-worth - generally, as bronch is progressive, it changes in form as well as the area of lung it affects.

So cylindrical is an earlier-stage form, meaning that's the shape the bronchi and bronchioles become in affected area.

As it develops further (lots of variable in all this!) to other forms they're descriptive re appearance eg saccular = cystic. Again I can send you info as pdf to private email if you'd like. I don't want to alarm anyone, but I do believe that if we're educated then we have a chance to act on the knowledge we have. I didn't have this possibility until my mid-50s, despite having "full-blown" bronch age 18.bye for now

I just checked the website and got caught up on the emails. I wanted to answer the question of my cylindrical bronch. when I was diagnosed. I was diagnosed in 1999 @ Mayo with cylindrical but know it has progressed and I am sure I have some other types along with that. I don't have all my information with me while we are away for the winter but when I return late March I will look at my records and report in on my last report and what they are calling it now.

I have traveled on a plane with my vest many times and just this last year got the new duffle with wheels which has made it so much easier. We have never had a problem until this last Nov. returning from a cruise - at the Ft. Lauderdale airport when thousands of people were flying home.........after going thru the first security area with no problem, we got to the security point before going to our gate and the security gal picked up the bag and said it was too big as a carry on - she would not listen to me trying to explain why we could not check it - she made us go back to the counter. The counter person said to go thru another security area - we did and no problem there. We have struggled to get it up into the overhead - never thought about taking it out of the bag - thanks for that tip. On smaller planes they have kept it in the front or sometimes in the back of the

plane.

Joy - you can send me any info you have to Spoppen2@... . I do need to get as educated as I can about this disease. Thanks, Sharyn
