Guest guest
Joan, I am not sure if I will be able to tolerate the medicine myself. I have other medical problems that may inter-fer with it. Do you ever have any good days???? Subject: Re: MycobacteriumTo: bronchiectasis Date: Saturday, January 22, 2011, 10:44 AM actually this was in response to linden2joy. am hooping she got it. I could not handle the side effects of the 3 antis, and so prob still active and has been for the last, maybe 5 years. am not sure my breathing probs, fatigue and cough are from it or from bromc. have some really good spells, and then there are the others. Mycobacterium After having my cat scan today, I seened the Doctor and he said I have mycobacterium in my lungs. We did a spetum today and I have to mail in two more. Has anyone else ever been told this or treated for it?? It sounds pretty serious to me. Joy L from Wisconsin. Guest guest
To joy L- mycobacteriumI also had mycobacterium in 1996. It iswhat my doctor feels caused the bronchi. There are more than one mycobacterium.Mine was kansasii. It took 2 weeks to growin a petrie dish after a bronchoscopy and is a member of the TB family. It is not however contagious. I was successfully treated with TB drugs. So u need to find out what type of bacteriumyou have and then find the treatment. As you live in the US, you can call the CDC inAtlanta for additional info. I did and they told me to find an infectious disease specialist in my area, as my pulmonary doctor gave me the wrong meds. I hope this is helpful. I had to have my bloodchecked monthly for liver levels andhad alot of ct scans. But after 11 months I was finished with those meds and clear ofthe kansasii. Best of luck Jo Sent from my iPhone yes, and sometimes long periods of good. Mycobacterium After having my cat scan today, I seened the Doctor and he said I have mycobacterium in my lungs.
