Guest guest
Kathy, Is this the (kind of) device you are talking about? http://www.diamondathletic.com/product;cat,105;item,353;Neuromuscular-Stimulator\ s-EMS+2 If so, this is the one I have. I've had it for years. I've never noticed much, but then again, I've been really bad about doing it consistently. The reason I got it was because I wanted to get an FES (functional electrical stimulation) bike (it stims the leg muscles to pedal the bike). http://restorative-therapies.com/products But, the FES bike didn't come out until years after my paralysis. Thus, my leg muscles were 100% atrophied. The bike has a sensor that tells when the muscles are fatigued or spasm and stops the stim. Because of the severe atrophy, I would time out in under 3 minutes. I wanted to see if I could build up enough muscle with this unit before spending thousands of dollars on the FES bike.I also needed to see if I could work up to the full stim that the bike uses. The FES bike is used in people with paralysis (thus no sensation). But, I have sensation in my upper thighs and butt (hypersensitive in my butt) and couldn't tolerate the full stim (it is STRONG for the FES bike). So, I was trying to get my body used to it. Unfortunately, after I left PT (when I did the trial for the bike and years after my paralysis), I kind of slacked off. You have put it in my mind to start doing it again! I need to get some new electrodes, though. If this unit can do it, I saw similar models (probably newer) on Nextag for under $100. My insurance paid for mine.
