That has been 3 weeks now and still no referral Hi Carol, You need to start calling your doctor and asking for the referral. Call everyday if necessary. I don't understand some doctors. and I were talking about that yesterday. I still have 4 doctors, two I see yearly, the other two, I see every six months. If any of them was going to refer me to another doctor, I would have an appointment with the new doctor before I left my doctor's office. I have great doctors who are understanding and caring. With all of them, I am a person, not just a number. Eunice

My mom's doctor is okay but you I find that you have to ask to get any information from her. My mom goes for her checkup tomorrow and I am making the list today with questions. I am not going with her this time so I told her not to let herself get rushed. So ask, ask and then ask again. Guest guest
Andreia, My mom has an appt with the Endocrinologist tomorrow (the NP actually) and it took us some doing to get that referral. It was supposed to have been given to us back in Jan but that never happened. I had to hound them for it. Only problem was that when the referral was made for some reason the appt was made too (this was for July initially) and I didn't like that at all. The reason is b/c of her work schedule and having to take time off from the work day to do it. This appt for tomorrow is the only time they had, kind of like for the one in July. It will be interesting to see how this appt tomorrow turns out. ===== Kristy http://www.geocities.com/sokokl/kristyspersonalpage.html Hoping to be a nurse soon but for now just a Medical Secretary who does a lot of learning from reading on the Net, books, my dr(s), as well as sharing my own personal experiences. __________________________________________________

Actually my mom's doctor is an endocrinologist which is one reason why I expected more from her. Maybe she just isn't a good fit for us. She is just too vague for me. My mom has another appointment this morning. Her BG test this morning was 99. I hope it goes well today. I won't be able to go with her today which I am a bit nervous about. Maybe it is just me, so I ask this question which anyone can answer: What are the signs of a good doctor? What do you look for in a doctor? I want a doctor to tell me " like it is " and not " beat around the bush " . My favorite doctor is my medical oncologist. When I was diagnosed with cancer, this is the doctor my surgeon recommended. The first time I talked to him, I didn't like him. He was giving me all these statistics about survival. I came out of his office and told my hubby, " He is not God, he is just a doctor. He doesn't think I can take the chemo or survive this. I'm going to show him what I can do " . That was exactly what I needed from him to survive cancer. When this doctor told me that I was going to be alright, I knew that I could believe it. He does not tell you anything that he does not believe. He does believe in God and that means a lot to me. This is probably more than you were looking for but I only have praise for all my doctors. They are the greatest. Kind, caring, understanding, proud of what I accomplish. I guess the main thing is the fact that if I need them on an emergency basis, I don't have to wait several days for a reply. Eunice
Guest guest
I know exactly what you mean. My newest Doctor has became my favorite Doc. My husband was in the office, some Doctor don't like this, this didn't bother my Pain Specialist one bit. Unless he can pull off one good act, but I don't think so. He came right out and said----this won't get better. Even though I already knew this, my husband looked shocked. I was surprised after going to all these doctors. I just found out my husband was waiting for the doctor who was going to cure to me. I was just looking for a doc that could some relief and understanding. In fact, when the surgeon removed the tubes from where I had the lumpectomy, hubby was right there with me. He and the doctor were laughing at me because I thought it was going to hurt. The tubes were out and I did not even realize it. Eunice

Guest guest
Hi , I believe has a List in the library that she set up. Love a lot, Imogene In a message dated 2/5/2011 11:20:16 P.M. We're only a couple of hours away from Tennessee, Kingsport & City, about 3 hours from Knoxville, TN. The neurologist we have just doesn't seem to be taking a sincere interest, or it may be just a lack of knowledge. If anyone knows where I could find a list of Doctors, please share.
