Guest guest
I do understand that it is not so easy sometimes. " Who can you trust these day's " For me is the question much bigger. " Who give me the correct answer on a for me very important question " So i do not forget to ask that important thing to my docter. But i have to agree evrything can be used against you. I personaly give nothing about what my neighbours read about me. I like to have answers so i can learn a lot more. And i can tell you, the mailinglist let me think sometime and i learned a lot from it. Re: bladder/pain >I guarantee you that there are *many* more than ten people on our list that >have bladder problems. I always think twice before posting anything very >personal though. Subject: Re: SEVERE leg pain To: tetheredspinalcord Date: Sunday, January 2, 2011, 8:48 PM When i got spasms it is like you tell, only when i am rest , ore almost sleep. My legs start flying. But the pain in my legs increase when i stand up for a while. When i stand to long ore sit to long it is back. Like someone kicked me very hard . I am on lyrica , and it seems the pain always inincrease after 20 minutes. The last couple of months i felt asleep ore can't not sleep realy strange. The pain started 5 years after surgery and is worse for 10 years. I made a appointment with the NS bt think story will be the same , nothing is changed see you in 6 months. Grrrrr. Where i want to talk about is the following. If i have a empty bladder the pain is less painfull. So maby a urodynamic test is usefull. Good newyear to you all b.t.w. Guest guest
Hi Kathy, Happy New Year. If I do not take ditropan/oxubutinin regularly and my bladder is close to full, I will leak when I stand up. It is also great challenge to stay dry when I have a cold and cough a lot. I am curious, what advantages does the botox procedure have over taking medicines like ditropan. I have been taking it for 33 years and often wonder about side effects. ________________________________ To: tetheredspinalcord Sent: Mon, January 3, 2011 10:42:58 AM Subject: bladder/pain Hello, I had a botox/bladder procedure done about two weeks ago. The botox is supposed to stop spasms and it also helps control leaking. So far, the spasms are under control and the leaking is manageable again. The effects last anywhere from 3-9 mos. the first time you have the procedure and then last longer with each successive treatment. I used to have botox injected into my calves for spasticity and it got to the point where it lasted over a year. I brought the above up because of the comment below about pain/bladder fullness. I have similar issues: my bladder will be empty and then after sitting or laying down for 15+ minutes, it will be completely/over-full. I asked my uro about this and he said that blood flow increases when you are at rest which will cause the body to filter more fluid - hence filling the bladder. He said that he hears this often with those that have either vascular problems or spinal cord related bladder difficulties. My problem was after laying down or sitting, my bladder would fill and then when I stood, it emptied - more often than not before I could get to the bathroom. I haven't had this problem for a week now - I'm really hoping it's the botox working. Guest guest
I have had the same thing sometimes when I lay down. When I asked my uro, he said I was crazy b/c the kidneys can only process approx 100cc of urine per hour & that I must not have fully emptied before. I knew I wasn't crazy & it was happening, so y argue. Glad to know it's really not in my head. Sent from my iPhone Also - I tried for years to get the answer to the question " When I lay down/sit, my bladder fills even if emptied minutes before. " I usually got stares until I asked this urologist. He started his answer by saying it was one of the more common questions that he answers. His answer made sense to me and I hope it made sense to others. Kathy
Guest guest
I have been taking oxybutin for over six years. Although it helped somewhat, it did not stop what I call " bladder dumping " and also leaking when my bladder was full. I don't know your medical hx, but pre-nerve damage, if I had to go - I could hold it a certain amount of time. Before the botox, (and I cath), I could not hold bladder contents once it reached a certain fullness and it didn't need to be full or overfull to leak. In the past week or so, I've had little to no leaking and no spasms. It had nothing to do with prolapse - had to do with spasms and a screwed up nervous system. You would think that cathing means no leaking (which is how it was when I first started cathing), but it had reached the point where it was very interfering with my life. If the above doesn't answer your question, please feel free to email me kmoulton@... Guest guest
Thats reassuring, Thanks! I havent gone in for urodynamics and would rather not LOL. I have had hospitalizations and surgeries requiring blood tests and my kidney function looks ok on those, so I figured thats all it was Also - I tried for years to get the answer to the question " When I lay down/sit, my bladder fills even if emptied minutes before.
