Guest guest
Kaivey, I could have been in your skin as you described that experience. I have never felt meditation or relaxation like you. It seems to me mate that you already have an understanding of what could work and all that is needed now is lots of practice. Everyday if you can. I do the body scan relaxation almost every night before I sleep, it's kind of like a body debrief for me and that helps me to relax. Guest guest
Thanks Lou. I seem to have quite a vivid imagination and I can visualise things very easily. This is perhaps because as a child I invented my own world to compensate for the painful one that I often lived in. Anyway, I really do beleive that when I finally get to physically relax my world will just change. I can remember as a child how beautiful and lovely my peaceful body felt. And how I was so happy and in love with life. The steets where I lived looked beautiful but they were just terraced houses. I remember doing a lots of EMDR on myself once in my 20's (using a just a coat hanger waggled in front of my eyes)and all these incredible memories came flooding back. I even remembered the the moziac footpaths and arches that led to my friends houses which was just so old fashioned London (I was only four years old). Some of these house still exist today and I love it when I see one again (there are loads of them in Brockly, South London, where I dance sometimes). My Nan would cook me lots of lovely cakes when I went there. My low self esteem was always a problem but I adored this world. Wow! and I loved being at the seaside with my mum and dad, and I loved the trains that went clickerty click as they took me there. At home, in Kensington, I would hear them going clickerty click over the rails way of in the distance right late right into night. I would fall asleep in love. Superb! One day I will get that magic back. Guest guest
I have just booked in for a hynotherapy session. I don't hold out much hope for it as I have tried hynotherapy and relaxation CD's but it must be worth a try. If the hynotheapist can bypass my very harsh and over critical forbrain and get to my primitive brain and then gently tell my muscles that it is okay to relax and let go, that would be amazing. I don't view this as a cure, just a way to get ralaxation going and then I can do ACT better and hopefully turn this whole thing around. A psychiatrist once told me when I suggested I might try hypnotherapy just to help me relax, not as a magic cure, but just to get me started, he said, yeah, people like you just want to lay back and let someone else do it all for you. Yet he was quite happy to pump me full of drugs. He made me feel like sh*t. Anyway, I will let you know if this helps a little bit. Guest guest
Hi KvI had a series of around 10 hypnotherapy appointments to help overcome a fear of public speaking, and I thoroughly enjoyed them, feeling very relaxed afterwards. No idea whether they "worked" in the true sense of the word, but then I benefitted most when I was not trying to look too hard specific outcomes, and just "went with it". Remember: you are trying something new - your mind will hate you for it. You will have to be mindful of unehlpful thoughts as you go through with this.Good luck. x To: ACT_for_the_Public Sent: Wednesday, 11 January 2012, 10:39 Subject: Re: Hynotherapy and Ralaxation Techniques I have just booked in for a hynotherapy session. Guest guest
Thanks , it is highly likely I will be far more relaxed about things on this site too if I finally get to relax. I am very headstrong but in my body everything is on No 11 all the time and I am relentlessly driven. There is never any peace at all. A more relaxed Kv around here might give everyone else a much needed break too.
