Sandy sounds like you are going through a lot. I sure hope everything works out for you. I had hernia surgery a few years ago. They had to take my colon out and put a J pouch in as the colon got toxic. I have to go once a year for dilation of the rectum because they had to take that out and put it back in. The darn scare tissues only make it more difficult. When I was in the hospital three months ago they were concerned because something was showing up on the ex-rays that was pushing into the lungs. My Surgeon Doctor said no surgery cause they have been in so many times. He said the only way was if it would be life threading will he ever go in again. I sure wish you the best and hope your life starts to look up for you. Take care Joy L from Wisconsin

Thanks for the update Lee--

I think about you, , Joy, Theresa, Norma & June (from UK)and ( Canada) a lot.

sadly we are all getting to ages where all things both medically and mentally are being challenged further aren’t they?

is so lucky you can get to see her- that will make the world of difference for her--

Strokes are such cruel things, because you are trapped in your fragile body- but most times only part of brain is effected, and so are able to know what is going on around you etc.which in many cases is even worse.

But if able to recognise a friend or relative can really help the rehabilitation process remarkably- please tell I am thinking of her- and did remember her birthday too-and that we are praying for her & missing her posts Sorry to hear about your poor mum- such a common thing in nursing homes.

I hope they get her out of the bed more often though so she will be more comfy and able to get over the hip operation.

Having your dad there may help her because he can still go see her too.

As for hubby—well hope he recovers as quick as he did the 1st—soon be time for you to come to SUNNY Q,land lol.

Are you still planning your trip to other places?

I sure hope so—you definitely deserve some NICE free time.

I am waiting for 2 major operations too- the hernia popped through again and has dragged bowel up through front ribs other side this time--

But have to have the 2 nd hernia up under the liver seen to first it is really effecting my lungs—and of course because of lack of physical excersise am putting unwanted weight on.

which has created the damn both knees needing to be done now- had one done in 1969- but now both gone--

I have only 1 tooth on top- all have broken off to gums and still waiting for public dentist--- feel like I am drinking blood – ( my teeth all gone because of the meds over the years like my bones). crumbling—oh if only we knew what those medicines were doing to us in our young years—I would have rather suffered all than to be like I am now- my pain levels are as they have never been before—the pain relief only lasts 3 hrs ( sort of) the implant isnt working- needs massive surgery to remove- and I am not strong enough to undergo another big op like that- the batteries were pushed 4 inches up- by the hernia—and dislodged the lot.

Please keep in touch- FB or personal email all good.

Hugs to you and all- PLEASE give yourself some Lee time.

Sandy Q’land

Ps I still have the wonderful photos both you and sent over the years- they are in my screensaver lol

Joy in WI - good luck to you on March 9th when you go to Mayo. You certainly have been dealing with many health situations.....hernia, colon, middle lobe removed, bronch. After reading these emails about people and their situations, I am feeling lucky that I am only dealing with bronch.

e - I was sorry to read that you were denied the 3rd time for by your ins. co. for Pulmozyme for your little Sammy. Keep appealing.........do you have a lawyer friend, relative that could help with these appeals? Tell me a little more about Sammy.......does he manage well during the day in school? In the future would there be a possibility of a lung transplant for him?

I had to start on Levaquin again yesterday.......it's only been 2 wks. off. I called my Dr. in IA (of course you can never talk to the Dr. - you have to talk to the nurse) and asked if I could try another antibiotic other than Levaquin......the nurse called back and said the Dr. wants you to stay on Levaquin as long as it is still working. Why are most bronch. patients alternating antibiotics and my Dr. wants me to stay on one as long as it works? This is why I am anxious to get back to Denver, get evaluated, get on a nebulizer and maybe get myself feeling better.

Hello Sharyn! Yes we have an attorney in our immediate family, even. It doesn't seem

to matter to those money-hungry, greedy idiots. Sammy does quite well in school,

actually! He plays the guitar and goes to Cub Scouts. He even played two seasons

of baseball last year. Then the ins company took away his meds. He is still carrying

mostly 'A's in school, even with coughing. 3rd grade is really the beginning of 'real'

class work.

He has a GREAT attitude as well. Always, his glass is 1/2 full. When he does complain,

his teacher calls the nurse, because she says he just doesn't complain! We are so

very lucky, because our public neighborhood school, has a large ESE program. ESE

is basically for children that have EXTREME disabilities. They also have 2 critical

care nurses there ALL day long. They do things like change feeding tubes and adjust

trachs all day. And they know my little Sammy. He goes over to the ESE side if he has

any issues, just to see the 2 RN's . I didn't realize it, but most schools have a 'health

aid'. She/He is not usually an LPN or RN. We are lucky to have our 2 RN's over on the

other side of our school campus. They enjoy Sam, cuz he can talk and tell them

what's bothering him. WE are blessed in these ways.

Sam has an appt @ Mayo in May, just after his 9th birthday. He is looking fwd

to spending his burthday up north, with my family (his cousins) and my in-laws.

It's a long trip, but well worth it! Well I'm off to work, myself, Venzuela tonight!

Have you given any thought to seeing a dr there in TX? Isn't that where you

winter? I know Houston is overloaded with excellent choices of well-trained

and, most importantly, VERY experienced physcians Just food for thought.

I flew Sam home to Orlando one time, he was not feeling well. He ended up

in the children's hosp that very night. His pediatrician asked me why we

just didn't stay in Chicago and let another set of eyes take a look at him. That's

when I realized that his dr wanted us to get a second opinion somewhere other

than Florida. So we went to to Mayo.

Be well! e
