Guest guest
I just checked the uses of Mannitol on the Internet. It indicates that it is primarily used as a diuritic and where there is swelling in the brain to reduce the pressure caused by fluids that result from brain trauma. It also mentions its use as a vasodilator. About ten years ago when I first got on this support group one lady said that when she worked in the ER they used it for cranial injuries where they tried to reduce fluid on the brain. I could not find any uses for respiratory conditions. Perhaps this is due to the fact that it is experimental at this time. If you want to try the Eclipse gum, Eclipse Winterfresh is the only one that has Mannitol in it. It is also sugarless. That is what the general merchandise manager at the grocery store told me when I called this morning. Norma
Guest guest
I've been using Eclipse gum for a couple of years, it reduces the amount of phlegm for me, I thought it was the extra saliva from chewing. In Atlanta is very easy to find, Walgreen's and super markets have them. Look for Eclipse Winterfrost in the blue package.RuthTo: bronchiectasis Sent: Fri, April 22, 2011 12:40:16 PMSubject: Uses of Mannitol I just checked the uses of Mannitol on the Internet. Guest guest
Mannitol experimenters were asked for research here about 8 years ago. I was having so many problems adjusting to a whole new lot of meds, plus pretty ill at the time so was advised not to. Apparently is made from cane sugar. Should be good for Queensland sugar industry if it took off - in any sugar cane production left! joy h (Oz)
