Guest guest
I gave my infant tons of Tylenol when he was just a few months old because I thought he was having teething troubles. Turns out he was having allergic reactions. He is not autistic, but he has severe allergies and eosinophilic esophagitis/GI disorder. The mold piece is really weird and distressing. Guest guest
What about taking it while pregnant? I took a lot of tylenol while pregnant because I get headaches when pregnant. Also, since my children had lots of ear infections, they were given lots of tylenol due to their screaming in pain. Of course, I wanted to reduce their pain. I am so saddened. We blindly just trust and do what we are told and then pay the price. Ibuprofen is no saint either. It messed up my gut. Guest guest
Aw, Crap! Maybe this is why my unvaccinated son regressed into autism. I took tylenol a few times when 8 months pregnant because I sprained my wrist. I gave this son more tylenol than my other son (lots of night waking due to teething). He even had tylenol right before he started regressing. Guest guest
I was thinking last night of all the over the counter meds with tylenol in it, like the Pink stuff, Pepto Bismol, and so many over the counter allergy, cough syrups etc.. We used them all -- sigh..... I recall asking asking the Pharmacy which products don't have tylenol - after I learned howbad it was on the liver. We had bad info given to us all, or uninformed DR's. Guest guest
Its just a guess but I think maybe DR Shaw could have some telling info to ask the American Ped.'s Association. I do not want to speculate what the out come will be. Guest guest
Here's a Pub med on Autism and tylenol Autism. 2008 May;12(3):293-307. Acetaminophen (paracetamol) use, measles-mumps-rubella vaccination, and autistic disorder: the results of a parent survey. Schultz ST, Klonoff-Cohen HS, Wingard DL, Akshoomoff NA, Macera CA, Ji M. Source University of California San Diego, USA. .schultz@... Abstract The present study was performed to determine whether acetaminophen (paracetamol) use after the measles-mumps-rubella vaccination could be associated with autistic disorder. This case-control study used the results of an online parental survey conducted from 16 July 2005 to 30 January 2006, consisting of 83 children with autistic disorder and 80 control children. Acetaminophen use after measles-mumps-rubella vaccination was significantly associated with autistic disorder when considering children 5 years of age or less (OR 6.11, 95% CI 1.42-26.3), after limiting cases to children with regression in development (OR 3.97, 95% CI 1.11-14.3), and when considering only children who had post-vaccination sequelae (OR 8.23, 95% CI 1.56-43.3), adjusting for age, gender, mother's ethnicity, and the presence of illness concurrent with measles-mumps-rubella vaccination. Ibuprofen use after measles-mumps-rubella vaccination was not associated with autistic disorder. This preliminary study found that acetaminophen use after measles-mumps-rubella vaccination was associated with autistic disorder. Comment in Autism. 2009 Jan;13(1):123-4; author reply 124-5.
