Guest guest
Perhaps I should make something clear: as I said, I have been prescribed Ativan (lorazepam) in the short term AS AN ADJUNCT to the ACT work that I continue to do in group and individual therapy - in no way was I suggesting that now I have a pill that I'm giving up on ACT! I just get so distraught from anxiety/panic that I can't reach the thinking part of my brain at all, and when that happens I now know that if I *need* to I can take a tablet I can - and then I can use ACT techniques to work on making room for what I'm feeling. ACT will always be an important part of how I manage each day - but unlike some, I will never be able to live without some medications. That's just how it is for me, and I hope you will respect that I have done my research and continue to assess my changing needs in conjunction with my doctors. Learning more about the way sleeping patterns change as we age (a useful recent read was " Wide Awake: A memoir of Insomnia " by oe - she tried everything but in the end found mindfulnes/meditation was the key for her, too) has been helpful. Understanding that worrying about not sleeping is far worse than actually not sleeping has made a difference for me. Guest guest
I would iamgine that going without medication would be extemely hard thing to do. From your post it seems thst your best bet is to work with ACT and take the meds when you need them. I'm seeing my doctor soon and I hope he will prescribe something to help me sleep. But I will only take it for a week.
