Guest guest
Oh my goodness that would be great if it treats oxylate issues. My son was perscribed butyrate last fall for draining ammonia from brain which turned out to no longer be an issue (or possilby never was) and I took him off of it a couple of wks ago. We just started low ox diet so maybe he should be back on it. thanks To: "BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism " <BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism >Sent: Wed, February 8, 2012 2:29:04 PMSubject: Re: Butyrate I think this was recommended for us a while back for oxal ate issues. Guest guest
I am a huge fan of searching Limin's posts, and she's a big proponent of PK ( Kane) protocol. You could just do a search for phospholipids with posts by her. Here is a link to the cleanse we are imitating: http://howto.whnlive.com/PCDetox/#LevelA I think I was doing some research about something else, and ran into this link about liposomal vitamin C: http://www.naturalnews.com/034646_vitamin_C_encapsulated_mega_dose.html and also read this, bodybio's advertisement for their phospholipid stuff: http://www.bodybio.com/BodyBio/docs/BodyBioBulletin-Phosphatidylcholine.pdf And then I realized I couldn't afford the bodybio brand of phosphatidyl choline, so I found a recipe here: http://curezone.com/forums/fm.asp?i=1554530 So it's a convoluted road, but that's how we got there. We are using the bodybio brand of butyrate - it's the best deal I could find. And so far I am adding nothing to the phospholipids. The stuff I am making in the ultrasonic cleaner isn't as potent as the stuff you can buy from bodybio, but I think it might be half as strong. Also we are using non-GMO lecithin. Guest guest
Thanks for that, I think that could be true. I found this: " calcium may bind to unabsorbed fat instead of to oxalates, which increase oxalate levels. " from http://adam.about.net/reports/000069_6.htm I think that butyrate gets rid of renegade fatty acids which may have something to do with oxalate? I'll have to do some more research! Thanks. > > > Just wanted to share our success with cal-mag butyrate. This is a supplement that we tried several months ago without any observable results, so went off of it. Guest guest
Krassi, I just wanted to add that we tried the phospholipids all by themselves for a while, I think a week. And my son has been on hemp oil for a really long time, like 6 months. But it was when we added the butyrate that we saw the big difference in speech. He gets one cap 3x/day. One negative effect is that he seems to be sleeping somewhat less. I wonder if something is being killed. Bethany > > > > Just wanted to share our success with cal-mag butyrate. Guest guest
Krassi, sorry to keep going on, I just had one more thought. My son is a seizure kid, but as long as we don't detox too heavily, 5 mg of vinpocetine at 8pm (the seizures happen at night) stops the seizures (he weighs 33 lbs). I have also read that vinpocetine can help with speech. I read about it in Buhner's Lyme book, per Heidi's recomendation (thanks Heidi!!!!). I wonder if we're experiencing a synergistic effect with the vinpocetine and the butyrate. Vinpocetine opens the blood vessels in the brain and oxygenates. It probably also helps drain stuff, i.e. ammonia or whatever. When we started vinpocetine, we didn't see an increase in speech, but we did see a MUCH happier kid, and some increase in interaction. Guest guest
Bethany, Thank you so much for your suggestions! Do you give the Vinpocetine only in the evening and 5mg is the whole dose for 1 day or give him also in the morning? I am going to give a try also with the cal-mag butyrate, because my son is on the low oxalates diet and this is one of the very few things which actually has made positive difference with him, so hopefully this supplement will help even further with the oxalates problem. Guest guest
Isa, I totally get your reaction! It does sound pretty weird. What finally convinced me was this from the Wikipedia article on liposomes: " Formation of liposomes and nanoliposomes is not a spontaneous process. Lipid vesicles are formed when phospholipids such as lecithin are placed in water and consequently form one bilayer or a series of bilayers, each separated by water molecules, once enough energy is supplied.[22] Liposomes can be created by sonicating phospholipids in water.[3] Low shear rates create multilamellar liposomes, which have many layers like an onion. Continued high-shear sonication tends to form smaller unilamellar liposomes. In this technique, the liposome contents are the same as the contents of the aqueous phase. Sonication is generally considered a " gross " method of preparation as it can damage the structure of the drug to be encapsulated. " Even with that, though, I don't know how great the stuff I'm making is! I just take 1 and a half cups of water, 6 tablespoons of lecithin, and put it in the blender for about 4 minutes to dissolve. Then it goes into the ultrasonic cleaner for 15 minutes. The ultrasonic cleaner stops automatically after 3 minutes, so you have to keep pressing the button. I have my son drink about 2/3 of a cup, divided throughout the day. It tastes so weird, but not awful. And it stays totally homogenized. Here's a link to Dr. K's coctail: http://betterhealthguy.com/joomla/blog/242-a-deep-look-beyond-lyme (you have to scroll way down) He also uses the ultrasonic cleaner. It's definitely an out of the box thing. Bethany > > > > > Just wanted to share our success with cal-mag butyrate. Guest guest
Krassi, I give the vinpocetine 5 mg only in the evening, but if he has a seizure during the day, I give him another 5mg. I've given him three doses in a day before, it has about a 3 hour half life, I think. Usually 1 dose is enough to stop seizures. One day I tried giving it a couple of times a day even without seizures, and it seemed to space him out a little. One dose seems to work GREAT, but more seemed to be too much. I emailed Buhner about giving 3 doses of vinpocetine (15 mg total) in a day and he said he wouldn't hesitate to do that. I'll be really curious to see if this stuff helps someone else! Good luck!! Guest guest
Ralitsa, What dose/frequency did you use for the vinpocetine? Thanks, Bethany > > > > > > Just wanted to share our success with cal-mag butyrate. This is a supplement that we tried several months ago without any observable results, so went off of it. Guest guest
Isa, I don't know about the x factor, but I found this about krill oil from http://www.nowfoods.com/Products/FAQs/081008.htm " Unlike the common triglyceride form of omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil, the phospholipid form found in krill oil can easily form micelles; which allow them to mix with water (unlike other oils) and absorb into the body without the usual need for bile salts, enhancing ease of digestion and bioavailability. " I think krill oil has this form by itself without any processing. Is krill oil recommended for kids with autism? Since it's already a phospholipid, you wouldn't need the ultrasonic thing.
