Guest guest
Hi All,I had an appt with my neurodevelopment doc today.I was really angry and sad. Not sure if I justify it.This is a guy who gives you no direction except for ST/OT/ABA.I follow Dr.G's protocol and we discussed about meds and stuff. He tells me paxil is really bad ... those give suicidal thoughts blah blahand that his practice stops recommending it. He basically didn't tell us anything new. We even avoided his 6 montsappt and went after a year. May be he eas pissed about it.All he did was just write it what I told him in his book. That's it. He never gives any directions. ST/OT is something that I do even now.So , nothing new but a big waste of time. Pls let me know if you I am wrong or prejudiced thinking this way. He makes a couple of subtle sarcastics jokes here and there ... I was this close to saying lot of things but just waited it out. But hey who cares !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Guest guest
A lot of Neuro DR's do not have a lot of information thats very helpful for our kids, usually its all med's, and some testing ~ MRI's, CAT scan's, genetic tests. So you know what this Neuro is like and has to offer; sounds like its not helping your child or you to go? I don't know if this would be helpful or not, but something you could look into. Guest guest
, My child had a horrifying dx....5 or 6 neuros and at least 2 developmental docs and no game plan. I have seen 2 neuros that were not completely useless....they trained together....one treats PANDAS now and the other one is an open minded gem....at least they admitted they were stumped and got the infectious link to his disability. Sad to say, but if u find one that u like personally (yeah big deep breath) and is open minded it's always good to maintain a cordial relationship as those scripts can come in handy. I don't bother with regular appts...why schedule frustration? They don't know, they were not trained that uninvited guests cause this crap...but when it comes to insurance and IEPs, mention neurologist and everyone shuts up.
