Guest guest
Kellie - I remember feeling so torn when I joined this group and heard some people's not so great experiences with surgery -- when I was deciding whether or not to have surgery myself. There is no way to know for sure how your surgery will turn out, but do know that many people do have successful surgeries -- I for one am glad I went ahead, and wish I'd done it sooner. Although it was not miraculous for me (I have other spinal issues as well), I am left with much less leg pain and the hope that I have halted or slowed down neuro damage. I am 3 years post-op with a spinal fusion thrown in this summer. I get mixed up with who has what, so can't remember your specifics. I had a tight fatty/filum. No lipoma. All you can do is make the best decision based on your situation, research and your neurosurgeon's recommendations and go with that. There are risks doing the surgery, but also not doing it. Wisdom from others in this group helped me ask my neurosurgeon the right questions and make my decision -- but in the end it was my decision, as I heard from people who had both bad outcomes and good ones. Well, I'm not sure weather or not to thank you for this information. I joined this group to ease my concerns of surgery. The fact remains that I can not going on living this way and need the surgery. I just printed this information and will take it to my surgeon Monday.
