Guest guest
Kv, I think you'll enjoy Hitchens' most famous book. He was a great thinker and a brilliant writer. I read it a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm currently reading The Moral Landscape by the philosopher and neuroscientist Sam (http://tinyurl.com/894roa6). The book is an exploration of how we can use science to guide our moral values and enhance human and animal well-being. Cheers, and a happy and values-filled new year, Stan > > > The Kindle version of The Confidence Gap is on special offer but it > finishes soon. Guest guest
Moderate Drinking can be Addictive too Another low cost eBook: I can't say if whether this book below is any good or not as I have only read a bit of it, but the eBook, Kick the Drink ... Easily, made me realise, after just reading the first chapter, that I was not enjoying my moderate drinking very much. I only used to drink 3 pints of beer on Saturdays and did this for years on end , but nowadays, since geting my house and wanting to enjoy it more, as well listen to my faboulous Hi Fi which I enjoy more after a beer, I have been drinking two pints of beer on Friday's and Sundays as well. The author of the above book was a seious heavy drinker himself once but he say's the is no such thing as an alcoholic, and there are no genes for this, meaning that anyone can become addicted. He also say's that most moderate drinkers are addicted as well, and I think this could be a little bit true in my case. Why? because I have to use willpower to stop myself from drinking more, and this not only kills the fun, but it also scares the life out of me. So I might get 10 points worth of pleasure from drinking a pint of beer, but 100 points of fear and guilt afterwards when I do. Oh, well, I do have GAD and this is one of the reasons I have never drank too much. His method is to help you discover that alcohol not only just gives an illusion of fun, but that it is really not that pleasurable afterall. When you realsie this giving up is easy, he say's. Anyway, he is not an expert, or a psychologist, just an ex heavy drinker who ruined a large part of his life, and also nearly killed himself because of booze. It costs £1.19, but you can look inside for free. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004S0T5I6/ref=docs-os-doi_0 Kv > > >> > >> > > The Kindle version of The Confidence Gap is on special offer but it> > > finishes soon.
