Hi Hester, welcome to this wonderful group.  They are warm caring bunch of people, a mine of information and experience and really DO understand what this awkward anti-social disease throws us!  In 3 years I've learnt so much and have gained so many wonderful friends....  It's a pleasure you could join us.  No matter how little we THINK we know, we all have so much to share - a lifetime of experience and knowledge.  This disease is so variable there will always be someone who has your strange experience no-one else does and vice versa.  Please tell us your story, someone will always benefit, be sure of thatI found this article a revelation.  My bronch journey began in infancy (cleft palate, whooping cough, pneumonia, collapsed lung etc..).  I was diagnosed age 18, told it was widespread thru all 5 lobes, incurable, progressive and had no cure.  I was given no tools, information or direction as to how to live with it the rest of my life, how to manage it....  Finding this group was one of the best things that has happened to me.  I didn't know about 'nebs' either!  Much less a huge body of other wonderful information.'Nebs': = a nebulised solution pumped through a mask or mouthpiece by a compressor that penetrates into the lung via fine droplet size.  The better quality the neb / compressor the better the results eg Pari products.Solutions are usually a mucolytic (help loosen, remove mucus) eg saline, Mucomyst; or open airways eg Ventolin - all prescribed by a doctor.  Bronch is so variable there is no one size fits all - there isn't even a one method suits one person always.  Learn all you can, have a list of questions for your doctor.  If he isn't providing answers try and find another.  Bronch is not common, many drs really have no idea.  Find a good dr and your battle is 90% done.all the best, and so glad to have you with us, Joy (from Oz)"We only need to breathe gently for the miracle to be revealed: birds singing, flowers blooming, the blue sky, the white cloud floating, .....  "      Thich Nhat Hanh
