Guest guest
Thanks everyone for your replies! I'm now taking 325 mg Tylenol with the 50 mg Tramadol 4x daily. I didn't think it was helping all that much til I missed a dose last night. Holy cow, it hurt! And I got lightheaded/headachy, as if I was going through withdrawal. Apparently it's helping to a certain degree but it's not great. I do take 1/2 a Tylenol PM (a whole pill knocks me OUT) so that helped. I'm going to stay on the meds til I see the Dr at the end of the month. Someone mentioned getting nauseous. I started out taking it with food but I can take it without and it has no effect on me, luckily. Someone also mentioned the high cost of Tramadol. With my medical plan, generics only cost $5 a prescription so it would be awesome if I could find a dosage that works. Has anyone taken more than 50 mg Tramadol? Would Ultram work better? Thanks again! Jodi
Guest guest
Jodi, Ultram and Tramadol are the same thing. Ultram is the brand and Tramadol is the generic. It still sounds like you are taking a lot of Tylenol. 325mg 4x a day is 1,300 mg. And while that much on occasion probably won't hurt you, taking that much daily plus the Tylenol in the Tylenol PM you take at night is playing with fire IMO. Especially over the long term. Tylenol overdoses (intentional or not) is the leading cause of liver failure in the US. Are you taking the Tylenol PM to help you sleep or because of pain? If you are taking the 1/2 Tylenol PM to help you sleep, then you would be better served by taking 12.5 mg of Benadryl (diphenhydramine) instead - that is the ingredient mixed with Tylenol in Tylenol PM that is the component that aids in sleep. So, if you are just looking for something to help you sleep in conjunction with you pain meds, just take 1/2 a Benadryl. That is a common problem with Tylenol use. Many meds contain Tylenol (OTC and Rx alike) and people use them in conjunction, not realizing how much Tylenol they are consuming on a daily basis once they add it up. You said that the Tramadol is helping, but you are still having pain. Just keep in mind that pain meds are not going to get rid of your pain, but rather bring it down to a manageable level at which you can still function. Jenn > > > Thanks everyone for your replies!
