Guest guest
Does anyone here have myasthenia gravis or know of a decent support group for someone who does?
Guest guest
More. The person I know who needs help with myasthenia gravis also has MS, so a good support group for MS would probably also help a lot. These damn chronic conditions throw people until they can get a handle on it. I feel so bad for the newly diagnosed. ________________________________ To: tetheredspinalcord Sent: Fri, July 8, 2011 11:02:11 PM Subject: Myasthenia Gravis Does anyone here have myasthenia gravis or know of a decent support group for someone who does? Guest guest
If you have a MSCIC (Model Spinal Cord Injury Center) near you, they may have one. I know Shepherd Center here in ATL has a MS clinic and they also have a support group. They also treat people with MG as IP and OP. Doubt they have a MG specific support group, but we have had a couple women with MG (as well as transverse myelitis, and other medically caused SCIs join the SCI support group - which is what I go to). Is she looking for a F2F or online group? If she is looking for a virtual group like this one, then maybe searching yahoo? I think the Care Cure forums have support groups for all different kinds of neurological conditions. I know there is one for brain tumors and one for SCI/D and MS and TM. Took a quick look and didn't see MG, but that's not to say its not there. CareCure is pretty well respected as far as virtual neuro support goes. What about a basic google search plus her city or zip code? Jenn > ** > > > More. Guest guest
Jenn, thanks. Apparently this woman lives in a very small town, no hospital. She has a lot of information on MS, but can't get any help for the myasthenia gravis. I looked up the national support group for it and sent that off. Hopefully that will help her. She is kind of falling apart. I'll let her friend know (yes, friend of a friend) about the MSCIC and about larger MS clinics. I think she probably would be good with online support, living in a very small town she can't be expecting face to face. I wouldn't expect that anyway. I appreciate the help, Jenn! ________________________________ To: tetheredspinalcord Sent: Sat, July 9, 2011 12:03:10 AM Subject: Re: Myasthenia Gravis If you have a MSCIC (Model Spinal Cord Injury Center) near you, they may have one.
