Guest guest Posted January 27, 2012 Report Share Posted January 27, 2012 I am low on sulfur and have been for years according to the doctors data testing. i suspect i am sensitive to sulfur, but we need sulfur to detox. how does one know whether or not to take it ? More info Methylation and Sulfur ( yasko notes) I do not think we want to "throw out the baby with the bath water" when it comes to sulfur donors. We do need some sulfur in the system. I feel that sulfur that if complexed in an herb is okay for the most part. So, I would actually remove some of the items from the list that you have. While things like garlic, onion, brocolli are going to be higher in sulfur, using small amounts of those gives you the positives. I would not go high dose on those, but lower doses do have benefits in the body. I try to avoid direct addition of sulfur, ie MSM, chondroitin sulfate, magnesium sulfate,etc. I would not eliminate herbs that may contain sulfur but also have other positives, so I would not eliminate horsetail grass, spirulina, dandelion leaf, parsley... Recognize that methionine which we need in the form of plain methionine or SAMe does in fact contain sulfur, it is a sulfur amino acid. So is taurine and cysteine. So, what I would leave on your list to limit for those who are having issues in this department is the following: taurine (depending on genetics and urine AA levels) broccoli (low dose ok) garlic (low dose ok) glutathione (low dose ok) NAC SAMe (ok depending on COMT status) magnesium sulfate cream glucosamine sulfate chondroitin sulfate MSM ALA milk thistle (low dose ok) Beyond C DMPS DMSA Heparin onion (low dose ok) coconut milk, juice, oil (very low dose) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
