Guest guest
Hi , I have been toddling around avoiding a chair for years now. I'm just not ready yet. I do have Chiari and small seizures which cause me to fall . I don't have EDS, at least I haven't been tested for it. At this point, I have so many things wrong I don't want to know ;-) Is Carmel helpful to you? Ricky is in regular obedience classes right now and is doing so well. I feel a very strong bond. Guest guest
Hey ! Glad to see you back on TCS. Its been a while. My friend Debi (that lived in Chicago - You picked me up from her mom's house for dinner that night) had her dog trained to be her service dog. The dog was great and not the typical breed one would think of as a service dog. I can't remember what kind of dog she was. If I remember correctly, Debi sent Ali (the dog) to this trainer and he did a lot of the initial work, and then Debi did some joint training with the trainer and her dog, and finished the rest herself. I also remember seeing some books in the back of New Mobility Magazine that you could get that described how to train your own service animal. Supposedly temperment is one of the most important traits in being able to train a service animal. That the animal can focus and not be easily distracted. If only I could teach even one of my cats to help me. Heck, I can't get one of them to stay awake longer than 10 min and I can't get the other to stop chewing (she is more destructive with those teeth than a new puppy!) Good luck Jenn > ** > > > Has anyone trained (themselves) or received a service dog to assist > them with walking or day-to-day tasks?
