Guest guest
Maybe you have an alergy related asthma thing going on since it's Spring. Or may be an infection trying to take hold. Kay Loose Cough Hi all. I've been a member of this group for a long time but haven't participated for quite a while. My bronchiectasis--and asthma--have seemed pretty quiet. Several days ago, however, I started having a cough unlike any I've ever had before. It felt loose and "wet" and felt as if it were coming from my chest rather than my throat, though it hurt my throat a lot when I coughed strongly. Despite the fact that the cough felt wet, however, I didn't seem to bring up sputum that I could spit out. Briefly, I think I had a slight fever, but not now. The thing is, this cough felt and sounded kind of "snorkly" (not a good word, I know, but somehow that's the one that came to mind). Occasionally, I had the same problem on inhaling as well as on exhale or cough. Does this sound like a bronchiectasis of asthma problem? I'd really appreciate any help you can offer me. Thanks.-- |================================================================|| 0 People with disabilities: A resource to recognize, || |_ *not* a problem to solve! || ( \_) ========================================= || *** Copyright 1999-2011 || by Remson || (e-mail: af752@...) || || Visit my award-winning personal web site, LRM's Place, at: || || < http://webspace.webring.com/people/rl/lrmidi/ > || [Last updated July 18, 2008.] || || ******** || Listen to .mp3 versions of my original music at: || < http://www.MP3.com.au/Remson > || (Latest .mp3 song released March 18, 2008) || || Or click on URL below to launch || mp3 miniplayer with my music: || | | http://www.mp3.com.au/Player/artistPlayer.swf?ProfileId=239975 || | |================================================================|
Guest guest
Hi, I am not an expert, but my asthma involves wheezing and bronchiectasis involves more mucous and rattling in my chest. I usually cough up colored material when I am getting sick. Have you seen a doctor. Good for you for staying well for so long. Cindi W. Guest guest
Thanks to Lee, Cindi, Kay and any others who have responded to my questions. I thought things were improving on their own, but the cough now seems to be coming back stronger again. Talked to my pulmonologist yesterday. He told me to take 600mg (I think that's the right unit) Mucinex tablets twice a day and to increase my Qvar from 2 puffs twice a day to 4 puffs twice a day, using Albuterol as needed to ease coughing and help with any acute breathing problems. I am a little concerned about side effects. The Qvar sometimes makes me shaky even at 2 puffs, and since I have MS and diabetes, this can complicate my efforts to deal with the symptom. At any rate, thanks again for your responses. -- =============================== At 04:08 PM 4/27/2011, you wrote: >Hi >I have had bronch for many years now and was told for longer that I >had asthma yet tests show I dont. Guest guest
Wow , You really have so many conditions to manage. I bet MS and diabetes would complicate bronchiectasis. I am glad you were able to see your doctor and some changes in your medicine. Cindi W. Guest guest
hi , sorry it's taken me a while to respond - house moving etc.... by what you describe pls try get to your dr, get him to do a sputum sample for pathology. I've never known a 'wet' cough for asthma myself, but as I'm not a dr of course pls check this out. Lung infx when it gets a hold can be stubborn so " sooner is better " . Yes - I know some some drs are a bit funny like you're making a fuss - it's YOUR life, not HIS that pays the price of not getting on to infx when they start, and not getting the right sort of action, from a friend who's been through that bit, joy h
