Guest guest
Oh! Thank You so Much Joy!I am actually here in Rochester Mn. right now, with Sammy. HisMayo appt. is Tues morning. His 9th, and Golden Birthday is today.I got the captain to give him a shout-out for his birthday inflight, and Sam just loved that! I ordered a candy/balloonbouquet to be waiting for us in the lobby of the hotel. Hewas so excited!! My husband cannot be with us on this tripso they are both sad to be apart on such a special day.Now we are trying to map out a decent place (for a 9yr old)to eat... He's been so good about all of these trips so farfrom home. Yes, I am definitely leery of most dx from most docs. Some-thing about Mayo leaves me feeling so much more comfortablethan any other clinic we've frequented. Do you have placeslike Mayo in Australia? I know you have social-type medicinethere, so I wonder if there's much difference btwn most clinics.Well, I sure hope you are doing well. There's only so mucha person can handle, and I notice as I get older I can handleless and less.. How do you do it??? I read your passages oftenand find myself wondering "Why her? Why so much on hershoulders?" I cannot imagine where you get your strength,Joy! Again, Thank You :-) eSubject: sinoplastyTo: bronchiectasis Date: Saturday, May 7, 2011, 7:42 AM hi e, Good on you for looking things up, checking your facts, and providing that relief for Sam. Great he could have the sinoplasty w/out all the packing (no, it's not much fun!). But continual sinus infx is one of the most common (er - I think, from reading, others' experience etc...) causes of continued chest infx either causing or continuing the cycle of bronchiectasis exacerbations. He's maybe a bit young to get used to using nasal rinse / sinus flush (in US, Peti Pot?) but it has kept me free from re-infxn again. (I do recall others on this site finding it beneficial - but yeah, it's messy, a pain - some nights I feel a bit fed up with all the stuff to do...). Such a great thing you did for Sam - I nursed in my 20s and saw the anguish parents go through when their children have to undergo surgery, even minor surgery such as grommets... I can't begin to think what it must have been like for my own Mum (she would never talk about it, and is now too elderly.) thx on behalf of Sammy joy
