Guest guest
When there is a choice between public and private schools I think that public is a good option. If however, there is a stark choice between public and private when the public one is markedly inferior, then private must be chosen, if possible, regardless of one’s principles. Our children must never be asked to pay for principles which they cannot have at that stage in their lives. Disapprobation must never be directed to someone who cannot afford to move house to the catchment area of a good school but choose what might be a cheaper option of paying for schooling. I am however writing from the UK where there can be the difference between cabbages and kings in comparing schools and living areas even though no schools as far as I know, have armed police on the corridors! I have always believed that it is beneficial for those of us who have to live our daily lives with the consequences of a disease of high morbidity (though thankfully not mortality), to focus for a time on other matters which can be informative and hopefully a brief distraction!
