Hi ,

When I heard how many of the workers who had helped with 9/11 were sick with lung problems,

I wondered if any would get this disease. Welcome to the group. It is a very informative and helpful group. It just makes you feel better to be able to talk to others who know what it is like to have this disease.

In my eyes you are a hero. I am just sorry that being there and helping made you and others sick.

I was in a school with mold in 2001 and having never been totally well since. I received my diagnosis in 2006. I try to stay off antibiotics by using other ways to clear my lungs. Because of the group, I asked my doctor to help me get a vest. This helps me stay clear as well as some natural methods.

Before I was always on an antibiotic and would just got sick shortly after stopping it, over and over again. Managing the disease is important and helps you not feel so powerless.

Hello ...I am SO utterly grateful to you for all you did to bring peace to somany. I know it was probably the most difficult job anyone couldever be tasked with doing. I am a flight attendant for AmericanAirlines, and on September 11, 2001, I had been flying for 12years. I found out I was pregnant 2 days later. Sammy justturned 9 last week. It was a difficult time for me and all myco-workers. I was friends with two of the crew memberson AA flight #11.-it was the 1st one to hit the Trade Center.I watched all of you trying SO hard to locate piecesof life in all that rubble and wondered what was goingto come of all of you. I am not a religious woman, butI prayed for their souls and I prayed for your health. Itmust have been so hard for you. And now

this...I am sorry that you have this disease. My Sammywas diagnosed nearly 2 years ago, he was 7 years old.I read your first entry onto this site as I was waitingto be called into Sammy's pulmonologist at MayoClinic. I read it quickly, but I was deeply disturbed, when the doctor walked in. I told him of yourplight and diagnosis. He was aware that therewere issues there, and said that he's surprisedit took this long to come out. He also said thathe hopes your doctors looked at a few otherlung diseases, NONE of which I can remember. Iam sorry.. I can find out if you need, but I'm sure thatyou are receiving excellent care there in NYC.Better be, anyway!I just hope that they've already ordered yourphysio vest for you, and started you on nebulizermeds. Pulmozyme, is good for some if your ins will pay the $2300per month fee. I can tell

you that Sammy was onthat for 2 years, now he's on Hypo-Tonic Saline. It's working for him, too! Did they tell youwhether you have Cylindrical or SaccularBronchiectasis? This is great site for allof us, whether we are patients or care-givers.I know how lucky I am to have the ability tofly from our home in Orlando, FL to MayoClinic in Rochester, Mn. One thing I will tellyou: If you have ANY doubt about your docsget a second opinion! OK! Well take a deep breath and be happyyou have found all these wonderful people from allover the planet Earth! I love them & you will cometo do the same! e--- On
