Ann, I'm glad you have connected with Dr Rosenbluth - he's very good and a very nice man.I'm fascinated about this new drug - will call next week to learn more! Thanks for the heads-up.Sent from my iPadSuzanne R Brown

Hey All,

Watching TV two nights ago there was an ad for a study on a new medication for bronchiectasis patients. I couldn't believe I heard correctly. They listed a phone number and, of course, I called the next day.

I was called back today and it's a study for a new inhaler with mannitol. Wow!! They're sending me some paperwork and I have to qualify.

I live in the St. Louis, Missouri area so anyone online who may be interested call . This is through St. Luke's Hospital.

This study could very well be operating at other facilities. I don't know yet who the pharmaceutical company is who has set up the study. When I learn this I'll be glad to let you all know.

Suzanne Brown, I saw Dr. Rosenbluth at this week and will probably continue to be followed by him.

Ann - I wonder if that is the same study that Mayo is doing with Mannitol. I mentioned it earlier in an email. I will be anxious and interested to see exactly what you have to do if you choose to take part in the study. Wouldn't it be great to have a new drug? I am really interested in the Pulmozyne (sp) and the long term effects. Wondering.........is anyone on antidepressants with this disease?

Sharyn, I am on Effexor 75 mg and have been for more than a few years. My gynecologist suggested it for hot flashes, taking it after dinner. It may be helping at night because I don't have the sweats at night any longer but I do have the "summer breezes" where the cover goes on, the cover goes off, etc., etc.

However, through my own trial, I've gone off Effexor and found coughing worse in the morning. I go back to using it and the coughing SEEMS to be much less. Haven't found the answer why discussing this with docs.

Anybody else have this happen?

yes it does. my mom is 91, but lives at a nursing home nearby. consequently I am on Zoloft for a short while. no side effects. also keeps me calmer when I panic over not catching my breath.
