Guest guest
All of the meds for bladder spasms: Detrol/Detrol LA, DItropan/Ditropan XL (oxybutinyn/oxybutinyn ER), Vesicare, Enablex, Oxytrol, Gelnique, etc, all cause dryness (mouth, eyes, etc). They also can contribute to constipation for the same reason. Drink lots of water (or other non-caffeinated beverages). If your eyes are that dry, also keep a bottle of artificial tears around. My dad used to harp on me about why I always had to have a bottle of something to drink with me at all times. Even if we were just running out for a few minutes. About 2 years ago, his MD started him on Ditropan (has since changed meds a few times, not sure what he's taking now), but he apologized to me after he started taking and and said he now understood why I always have to have something to drink. It makes me so dry. I had dry eyes before, and the Ditropan just made it worse. I know my eyes have been so dry that my vision is a little blurry. A problem in your neck would not effect your vision. Vision is controlled in the brain. Chiari could probably effect vision (not sure though). Although the defect is at the base of the skull, it can cause problems in the brain. Guest guest
Hi margaret. That is good that the Ns is going to follow you closely. Where are you having the urodynamic testing done? If you are having it in London with what eurolgist? Take care jackie Detrol and blurry vision, & saw NS this week I started taking Detrol about 3.5 weeks ago and my vision seems to be much worse. I really noticed how much worse it was when I was driving out of town and trying to see street signs to find the hospital in London. I managed ok but it concerned me. It dawned on me today how my eyes have been dry and then I remembered seeing on the pharmacy print out that blurry vision can be a side effect of this medication. Has anyone else experienced this? I could also be having problems because of some small degenerative changes in my neck, but I'm not sure if they are small if they are enough to cause this vision change. It could be time in front of the computer screen etc, but I don't think it has decreased this much because of that. I really hope its the Detrol and will be okay if I stop taking it. Also the NS said that he is going to rule out Chiari because of some hyper-reflexes in my arms (and maybe because some of my other symptoms, I'm not sure) but that won't be until the fall and I don't know if that would even have anything much to do with this. The NS is also ordering the urodynamic study and going to follow me closely to monitor my function as I understand it. Margaret
