Guest guest
Hi Jenn..I think you are probably quite right. I googled this and could find rat studies regarding EODF and the spinal cord but no human studies though I didn't spend gobs of time. Those studies were promising for sudden spinal cord injuries but they were rats! I like this MD and hope will stick with him for other avenues of help ... Also, especially not eating breakfast will put the body in starvation mode and cause it to try to hold on to calories (thinking its not going to get anymore soon), which in turn causes weight gain. It is best to eat the bigger meals earlier in the day (breakfast and lunch) and have a small dinner and nothing after 7ish (assuming one goes to bed around 9-10). The body's metabolism slows in sleep (you're not burning calories), so if you eat a big meal at dinner fewer of those calories will be burned. Whereas if you eat the biggest meal of the day for lunch, then you're going to burn those calories with the activity for the rest of the day. I agree with Dee that a healthy meal replacement is a good option if she has a hard time making healthy choices. Another good diet to follow is Volumetrics. You have to eat a minimum amount of calories each day and when my friend did it, she had hard time meeting the minimum and would end up eating a few teaspoons of peanut butter to meet them. It focuses on large quantities of foods that have a high water content. so you can eat a TON of food. Definitely not hungry on this diet. Check out that one. But I have a feeling, she needs to come to terms with the idea that she can no longer eat what she wants and not exercise and not gain weight.
