Guest guest
Maybe try putting it in a syringe ( minus the needle of course). Squirt it in his mouth after he has had something really cold to eat? Just thinking it would kind of cool down the tastebuds. If that does not work, then I think your going to have to use a reward system for this. Guest guest
yes, we've tried the syringe method and he would vomit immediately after and all the meds would come out. this would happen 100% of the time and we've tried for a couple of weeks. i am welcome to any other suggestions b/c i'm desperate. > > > > i have 2 questions: > > > > 1. does anyone know any tricks of getting a 3.5 year old to ingest the icky tasting mepron? i already tried it with ice cream and juice and yogurt and anything sweet. he has an extremely sensitive palate---one taste of anything bad and he will stop eating entirely. the fluorescent color certainly doesn't help > > 2. anyone with a toddler as young as mine (3.5 years old) with good results from the mepron? any negative side effects with kids this young? > > > > thanks! > > >
Guest guest
My kids all liked it, believe it or not!?! If he really won't ingest it, Malarone pills (they are small) are an option....Sent via BlackBerry by AT&TSender: BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism Date: Mon, 09 Apr 2012 01:19:25 -0000To: <BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism >ReplyTo: BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism Subject: Re: any tricks with mepron? yes, we've tried the syringe method and he would vomit immediately after and all the meds would come out. this would happen 100% of the time and we've tried for a couple of weeks. i am welcome to any other suggestions b/c i'm desperate.> >> > i have 2 questions:> > > > 1. does anyone know any tricks of getting a 3.5 year old to ingest the icky tasting mepron? i already tried it with ice cream and juice and yogurt and anything sweet. he has an extremely sensitive palate---one taste of anything bad and he will stop eating entirely. the fluorescent color certainly doesn't help > > 2. anyone with a toddler as young as mine (3.5 years old) with good results from the mepron? any negative side effects with kids this young?> > > > thanks!> >>
Guest guest
My son started mepron at 22 months old. He started sleeping through the night, his belly went flat, his excessive thirst disappeared, he had amazing gross motor gains within 2 days and also lost all of his light and sound sensitivity. He also dumped crystals which I believed were oxylates. It was pretty great. He continued on it for nearly 2 years. He has been taking medication in a syringe since he was 1 year old and we never had any problems. Mepron needs to be taken with fats for optimal absorption, so I gave it with CLO. Guest guest
Start with about 1/4 of the dose and work up. Gag relex it common with babesia kids. I don't think it is the taste, rather an immune reflex. You might also try a week or so of artemisiae to see if you can get some die down. > > > > > > i have 2 questions: > > > > > > 1. does anyone know any tricks of getting a 3.5 year old to ingest the icky tasting mepron? i already tried it with ice cream and juice and yogurt and anything sweet. he has an extremely sensitive palate---one taste of anything bad and he will stop eating entirely. the fluorescent color certainly doesn't help > > > 2. anyone with a toddler as young as mine (3.5 years old) with good results from the mepron? any negative side effects with kids this young? > > > > > > thanks! > > > > > >
Guest guest
My older one gagged on Mepron as well and my little one projectiled vomited on prednisone due to allergies with the red die??? He was prescribed the prednisone after an anaphylatic allergic response to soy (and soy isn't as evil anymore). Our old LLMD suggested making a cocktail....I know that when I tried to get my little one to do the prednisone (which thank god he didn't tolerate in any shape or fashion) nothing worked to keep it down. Can you talk to your doc and try another med? I have seen allergies, sensitivities etc decrease as the infectious/toxic load decreased so Mepron might be something to revisit down the road. I agree with your little guy, the stuff is gross (and full or crap!)! lisa
Guest guest
hi caryn, what is " CLO " ? and when you say you used it with the syringe, did u mean you put the liquid mepron in the syringe and squirted it directly into his mouth and he actually swallowed it? did you mix it with anything or was it just 100% mepron? nancy > > > > i have 2 questions: > > > > 1. does anyone know any tricks of getting a 3.5 year old to ingest the icky tasting mepron? i already tried it with ice cream and juice and yogurt and anything sweet. he has an extremely sensitive palate---one taste of anything bad and he will stop eating entirely. the fluorescent color certainly doesn't help > > 2. anyone with a toddler as young as mine (3.5 years old) with good results from the mepron? any negative side effects with kids this young? > > > > thanks! > > >
Guest guest
Wow- memories- yes, that was how our youngest took Mepron - in a syringe. You just put it back further (as far as they will allow you) and squirt it away from the tongue if the taste is a problem. Later our kids had no problem with spoonfuls- taste didn't bother them, good luck!Sent via BlackBerry by AT&TSender: BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism Date: Mon, 09 Apr 2012 22:07:18 -0000To: <BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism >ReplyTo: BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism Subject: Re: any tricks with mepron? hi caryn, what is " CLO " ? and when you say you used it with the syringe, did u mean you put the liquid mepron in the syringe and squirted it directly into his mouth and he actually swallowed it? did you mix it with anything or was it just 100% mepron?nancy> >> > i have 2 questions:> > > > 1. does anyone know any tricks of getting a 3.5 year old to ingest the icky tasting mepron? i already tried it with ice cream and juice and yogurt and anything sweet. he has an extremely sensitive palate---one taste of anything bad and he will stop eating entirely. the fluorescent color certainly doesn't help > > 2. anyone with a toddler as young as mine (3.5 years old) with good results from the mepron? any negative side effects with kids this young?> > > > thanks!> >>
Guest guest
I mixed the mepron with Cod Liver Oil (CLO) in a syringe with nothing else and he swallowed it. He takes all his meds that way. Note that an E sized blue syringe cap will fit on the mepron bottle. > > > > > > i have 2 questions: > > > > > > 1. does anyone know any tricks of getting a 3.5 year old to ingest the icky tasting mepron? i already tried it with ice cream and juice and yogurt and anything sweet. he has an extremely sensitive palate---one taste of anything bad and he will stop eating entirely. the fluorescent color certainly doesn't help > > > 2. anyone with a toddler as young as mine (3.5 years old) with good results from the mepron? any negative side effects with kids this young? > > > > > > thanks! > > > > > >
