Hello everyone, I have had problems with constant infections that the dr can not

get rid of. I was using the red rubber cathaters and the place I was getting

them were so rude and the only place in town to purchase them. I got on line and

found 180 Medical they are super friendly and they sent me some samples. I

recently became a customer of theirs. I am using a female cathater that has a

pouch of sterlized water in w the cathater. You break it open and it pre

lubicates it without having to touch it. There kits also come with wipes and

gloves. Since I have been using them I went 6 weeks infection free. This is

great for me I feel like I got my life back and it was all in the cathater I was

using. I wanted to share this with the group in case any of you have been having

the battle with constant infections. I would have had a infection for 3yrs

straight if it wasn't for switching companys. Also this company with help with

the medical cost of them they have a financial assistant place. I got approved

for 180 mth and only have to pay $35.00 a mth this is such a blessing to me and

my family. In there fa plan you count all your bills including child support and

credit card payments as well.

Touchless catheters are what made all the difference for me as well. When I

left IP rehab, I was washing and reusing catheters (plastic, not red rubber

since I have a latex allergy), and I had a persistent infection. I went to

single use and it got better, but still not good. When I finally went to a

touchless system, my UTIs went down to about 3/year (very good for me). Last

summer I had a persistent infection all summer, but we finally figured out

it was because I had developed hydronephrosis. Changed my oxybutinyn to an

extended release gel and I'm good again (and the hydro has resolved itself).

The other good thing about most touchless cath systems is that they keep the

catheter from touching the first part of the urethra, which, especially in

females, is where most of the bacteria resides. They do cost more, but

Medicare will cover them.

If you are able to sit on the toilet to cath (as opposed to cathing from a

chair like I do), then I highly recommend the SpeediCath. They are SO small.

They are not completely touchless, but they are hydrophyllic (they have the

liquid). I love them. But since I only transfer to the toilet about once

every other day, they aren't very practical for me. But for someone who sits

to go, they would be a great choice!
