Guest guest
It may seem like an obvious answer but I don't know the symptoms for not tolerating oral antibiotics well. I don't know what warrants ramping up to IV from oral and I'm curious what others here have experienced. I can't tolerate all the antibiotics the Doc gives me to take at once. For example: 200 mg of Doxycycline taken twice a day makes my stomach so nauseous that I feel like I have morning sickness! That's JUST the doxy...then to add Valtrex, Rifampin and the other supplements makes me so sick that I can hardly tolerate anything else on my stomach without vomiting. So to avoid this, I break up the doxy (100mg ea) to just one at a time and spread it out to 4 times a day and I feel a bit better and far less nauseous but then my whole dosing schedule is screwed up between other herbs and supplements I take that either can't be combined together or only taken with food/without food, blah blah blah. SO I guess I'm just wondering what the level of intolerance I have to achieve before IV antibiotics are prescribed?? I'm so confused by my doctor and what he's prescribing because everything else he gives me to take makes me feel prisoner to my own home and nearly impossible to maintain. Other nurses in his practice said that if I was a patient of a different doctor, they would have put me on IV antibiotics long ago considering the state I'm in right now. I DON'T want IV antibiotics because of the expense and hassle but I don't want to prolong the inevitable by wasting time and money on other things that make me sick and give no progress. Any suggestions? e
