Guest guest
Hi , it is such a terrible thing to happen, as a result of doing good, life can be sooo strange. Bronchiectasis is often referred to as an Ideopathic Disease because the causes are not always clear, or the same. This can leave a feeling of 'why me' etc.... Also when told initially it's incurable and progressive it can sound frightening. However, it's possible your bronch may not have been caused by your involvement in 09/11, but the stress of the time, and I'm sure, for some time after, maybe weakened your immune system enough for it to become apparent. Hopefully it's been detected early - if so, the treatments used now and better knowledge means that it may not really impact on you much, or only in late life. I do hope it is early days, that you can get timely treatments that help avoid the ongoing damage to the lungs. Please don't be afraid to ask any questions you have - the experience of the people on this site have such a wealth of knowledge. Knowing the right questions to ask helps get the right answers. If you're finding it hard to cope with, likewise you'll find support and understanding. Joy H
