Guest guest
hi Norma, I had Cipro 4-8 x year for around 7 years, and had awful burns - as painful as really bad sunburn. Made choice of clothing really difficult at times... I tried to get to dermatologist (none in Cairns), waiting list of years... Eventually the Cipro graduated to IV, and the burns stopped. I mentioned this to several drs - comment, 'oh yeah, it can cause symptoms like that'. Yet in all the time I suffered with it (affected sleep, my whole life) not one thought of actually telling me .... I think it was someone from this site who mentioned it... The things I've learnt from this group drs never tell you!!! joy h
Guest guest
In the US, when we get a prescription filled at a pharmacy, they are required by law to give us a brochure that explains everything about the meds - side-effects and all. Most people don't read them and just throw them in the trash. They SHOULD read them so they will know if something they are experiencing is a side-effect and can then notify their physician immediately. I was given Cipro many years ago - a day or so later, started incredible itching on my legs, followed by edema (legs about twice their normal size). I had not yet read the brochure but had kept it - grabbed it and read it and realized that this could be a sign of kidney failure being caused by the drug. It said to stop taking it immediately and contact my physician, which I did. Cipro is now on my list of drug allergies. Suzanne
